---The obi time favorite, Jessie Mac-
Lachlan, will sing at the Scottish con-
cert in 'sV inghant opera house on Friday
evening, January 9th.
-The engagement is announced of
Miss Viola Phippen, daughter of John
Phippen, Ernsdale, Muskoka, to Mr.
John T. Ilan, of Cargill, the marriage
t� tale place Dec. 23rd, in Paisley.
-Mr. Cee. H. Smith has resigned his
position as manager of the Molson's
Bank at Lueknow and is succeeded by
Mr. T. Reid, of Teeswater. Mr. Smith
has severed his connection with the bank
and will likely go West.
-Many frierds will regret to hear of
the serious illness of Mrs. W. J. Currie,
of East Wawanosh. Mrs. Currie under-
went an operation at Wingham Hospital
on Monday and her friends are glad to
learn that she is recovering nicely.
-The summer weather of two weeks
was brought to a close on Saturday
night end Sunday when this section was
visited by a snow storm and winter
weather. The winter weather is more
seasonable and is welcomed by our
merchants.
--W1-. IL Willis & Co. believe in meet-

-Mr. Geo, Stilson, a popular Grand
Trunk Roadmaster, died suddenly in St.
Catharines on Friday, and his remains
were interred in Komoka cemetery on
Monday. Mr. L. Ponder, G.T.R. Road -
master. of this town, attended the
funereal.
--The parcel post system will not be
inaugurated en January 1 next, as was
tentatively nrevarmeel some time age.
There will be a further delay e f least
two months, owing principally to the aI
difftettlt:: of reaching an agreement be-

the railway companies in regard to the
increased remuneration to be paid the
latter.

STRAY HEIFER.
There strayed from my premises, lot
27, con. I2, East Wawanosh, about the
15th of November, a two-year old heifer.
Heifer was pure red in color with small
spot of white on forehead and was not
dehorned. Any person giving inform-
