—Wingham fall fair on September
25th and 26th.
-Civic holiday on Friday this week.
All places of business will be closed.
—Capt. Montgomery, the oldest resi-
dent of Goderich, died last week in his
91st year.
—Regular monthly meeting of the
Town Council will be held next Monday
evening.
—Miss Lizzie Greer and Miss Kathleen
Taylor of Toronto are visiting Mr. and
IVirs. W. J. Greer.
—Hensall people are beginning to
arrange for au Old Boys' Reunion, to
be held some time in August of 1914.
—Prize list for Wingham fall fair is
now ready. You can secure a copy
from the Secretary at the TIMES office.
—The Ripley Express and Wroxeter
News staffs are holidaying this week
and these papers are not being issued.
—Last Thursday the Wingham la-
crosse players went to Kincardine and
played a league game. They won from
the lake town boys by a score of 5 to 3.
—Prior to his departure for the West,
Mr. Ernest Greer, late foreman, was
made recipient of a pair of handsome
Roman Gold Cuff Links by the Tiatgs
staff.
—Thi annual tournament of the
Wingham Bowling Club will be held on
Monday, August 18th and following
days. Programs will be issued in the
near :utare.

good game of baseball on the Town
Park on Wednesday afternoon of last
week. The local players won by a score
of 10 to 8.
Sunday School excursion to Kincar-
dine on Friday, August lst. Buy your

-- Mr. Issac J. Wright, of the 6th

which gave birth the other night to

and doing well.

teams which resulted in favour of the

—Mr. Geo. Wynn was taken seriously
ill on Wednesday afternoon of last
week and underwent an operation at
the Hospital. We are pees ,sed to report
thathe is making a splendid recovery.

—A pretty wedding took place in Sea -

and Mrs. John Dodds, when their eldest
daughter, Iva lthodeila, became the
bride Mr. William Blain MacKay, of
Halia: N, S., and formerlyof Seaforth.
—Mr. John R. Martin, of the Ad-
vance staff, was taken seriously ill with
appendicitis at the Salvation Army
Citidal on Sunday evening. He was
token t.i the Hospital where an opera-
tion was performed and we are pleased
to re _t that Mr. Martin is making a

CHURCH NOTES.
Geneva Church, Chesley, has extend-
ed a unanimous call to Rev. J. A. Hilts,
of St. Andrew's Church, Stirling, to be-
come their pastor.
The Wednesday night service of
this week is the quarterly Love
Feast and Fellowship service. Every
one is invited.
The congregation of Knox Presby-
terian Church, Listowel, has ex-
tended a unanimous call to Rev. J. M.
Nichol, B. D. of Wiarton.
Rev. Mr. Doherty of Hensall will
conduct Divine Service in St. Paul's
church on Sunday next. The Holy
Communion will be celebrated at the
morning service.
Rev. E. R. Fitch, of Waterford, a
former well-known pastor, conducted
the services in the Baptist Church on
Sunday last. The pastor, Rev. G. Vic-
tor Collins, will return home this week
and will occupy his own pulpit on Sun-
day next.
Sabbath morning the quarterly Sacre-
mental service will be held in the
Methodist Church? also reception of new
members. The pastor will preach both
morning and evening.
The Rev. 0, Darwin, of Regina, Sup-
erintendent of Missions of the Saskat-
chewan Conference, gave a very inter-
esting address at the prayer meeting of
the Methodist Church last Wednesday
evening.
The Missionary Committee of Wing -
ham district, met in the Methodist
church on Thursday for the outlining of
plans in regard to missions. The com-
mittee is composed of the following;
Rev. J. W. Hibbert, Wingham; Rev.
George McKenzie, Lucknow; Rev.
David Wren, Brussels; Mr. John Joynt,
Lucknow; Mr. John Kerr, Wingham.
They present their report at the Finan-
cial District Meeting which will be held
early in September in Gorrie.
Andrew Carnegie has offered Van-
derbilt University, Nashville, a gift of
$1,000,000.
