The annual board meeting of the
Methodist Church was held, and the
reports of the yearindicated prosperity.
The membership was increased by 10.
Over $400 was given for missions, and
the reports of the various departments
were very encouraging. A very hearty
and unanimous resolution of apprecia-
tion was extended to the pastor, Rev.
J. W. Hibbert who is just closing his
pastorate here.
H.owick Township has been organized
for the campaign in connection with
Canada Temperance Act. The follow-
ing are the officers:—President, T. H.
McLaughlin; Secretary, E. A. Fallis,
Fordwich; Treasurer, W. Simson, Gorrie;
Executive, the above officers, the
clergymen of the Township and S
H. Ferguson, W. H. Gregg, T. 0.
Johnston, S. Bricker, Adam Young and
John Darrach.
—The Picture House presents "Cus-
ter's Last Fight" in three parts; also
"The Widow's Coquette," on Wednes-
day and Thursday.
— When plowing bis garden on Thurs-
day, Mr. C. N. Griffin found an open-
faced "Ingersoll" watch. Owner can
have same by applying to Mr. C. N.
Griffin.
—In the Dominion estimates $10,000
has been put in for a public building in
.Brussels. It is said that a post office,
armoury, etc., will be included in the
building.
—The work of laying the new side-
walk on Josephine street between the
Bank of Hamilton and the Brunswick
Hotel has been completed. This is a
very much needed improvement.
—The Victoria Day holiday pasted off
quietly in Wingham. The only attrac-
tion in Wingham was the Woodstock
—Wingham football match. There
was'a heavy holiday traffic on the rail-
roads. .
—Jazeneuil the Grey Percheron Stal-
lion, owned by Scott Bros. is making a
good record of himself; producing the
right kind of Grey colts that the coun-
try needs. See him at Leopard's stable
Saturday noons.
—Mayor C. G. VanStone this week
sold his house and lot an the corner of
Patrick and Frances streets to Dr. W.
J. Moon. The transfer was made
through Messrs. Ritchie & Cosens,
real estate agents.
—Mr. Wm. Moore has purchased the
house and two lots on Catharine street
from the Edward Bosman estate. Mr.
Moore has been living in the house for
some time. The transfer was made
through Ritchie & Cosens. real estate
agents.
•--Principal H. Bonis, classical master
of the Listowel high school, and Miss
Gillespie, mathematical teacher, have
tendered theirresignations to the chair-
man of the school board, to take effect
at the conclusion of the present term.

Camp at London.
Col. Hodgins, ofoLondon, received an
official dispatch from the militia de-
partment at Ottawa on Wednesday
evening anouncing definitely that. the
camp this year will be held in London.
The dates are June 18 to 27, the same
as previously announced for Goderich.
It is understood that the old camp
grounds on Carling's Heights will be
the site chosen for this year's camp.
The reason for the change from`Goder-
ich to London is given as the uncertain-
ty of the water supply at the former
camping grounds in Colborne Township.
Mrs. Matilda Brown] died in Dutton
her hundredth year.

—George T. Bell, lately assistant pas-
senger traffic manager of the Grand
Trunk Railway, has been appointed
passenger traffic manager of that com-
pany and of the Grand Trunk Pacific
Railway. The position became vacant
throngh the death of Mr. W. C. Davis.
—At the meeting et Wingham Court
of Revision on Monday evening the
appeal of Thos. Gregory of $1,200 on
the 18 acres at the south end of Jose-
phine street and of Wm. Nicholson of
$250 an a vacant lot on Frances street
were sustained. A few names, as ton•
ants, were added to the roll,
---Miss Irene Cavanagh, who was six
-weeks in Wingham Hospital with typhoid
#ever, and two weeks after recuperat-
ing at Rev. Dr. Rutledge's in the same
town, arrived back to Brussels Thurs-
day of this week and is nowthe guest
.of Mrs. W. II. Kerr. Miss Cavanagh
is regaining her former vigor in a sat-
