John T. Lee died suddenly at

Mr. W. F. VanStohe for his kindness

ticket from H. B. Elliott, Town Agent
for the G.T.R., and travel over the
Grand Trunk Pacific, the new road in
-the Western country.
—Mr. T. Harry Jones, City Engineer,
of Brantford, will be in Wingham on
April 1st, to take levels on Josephine
street and gather other information re
paving before submitting his report to
the Council.
—Kincardine goes dry for the next
three years. In the recount which took
place last week before judge Barrett,
of Walkerton, it was found that the
local option party gained one ballot,
making the official majority two and
three fifths.

18th, John McVettie, in his 78th year.

Miss Anne Kelly, in her 84th year.
MARwooD—In East Wawanosh, on
March 17th, John Marwood, aged 92
years.
—Miss E. Rush has purchased the
millinery business from the late Miss
McPherson estate and is now in poss-
ession. Miss Rush is well known to
our readers and all will wish her suc-
cess in her new business. Miss Rush's
announcement can be found in another
column in this issue.
--- Mr. Hartley Paterson, of New York
City, son of Mr. Arch. Patterson, of
this town, has accepted a position with
the Pearson Engineering Corporation,
who are budding a large water power
plant and Electric railway near Barce-
lona, in Spain. Mr. Paterson sailed
from New York on Thursday for Paris
and thence by rail to Barcelona. He
' expects to be in Spain for some time.
Progressive Euchre.
The members of Court Maitland, ('an-
adian Order of Foresters will hold ano-
ther progressive euchre party in their
Court Room on the evening of Friday,
March 28th. All members of the Order
are invited to take part in the evening's
entertainment.

High School Promenade Concert.
Owing to the celebration of the Liv-
ingstone Centenary, the High School
Promenade Concert was postponed un-
til Thursday evening, March 20th. It
was a most enjoyable event. Ile spac-
ious Assembly Hall was tastefully dec-
orated with flags and was filled with an
ap; reciativ a audience who enjoyed the
folie lag: Instrumental Si,lo. 'iiia 0.
Currie; Vocal Solo, Miss 51. Isard; Reci-
tation, Miss G. Freeborne; Selection,
Harmonica Band; Reading of the Jour
nal; A Pantomime; and a Dramatic Scene.
A number of letters were rend from in-
vited guests who were unable to attend.
A targe number of ex -students, includ-
ing a number who had just returned
from the training schools and universi-
ties were present and spent an enjoy-
able evening. After the programme,
promenading vas enjoyed. by everyone,
the music being furnished by the stud-
ents themselves. All partook of dain-
ty refreshments in the Assembly Room
which were served in buffet luncheon
.style. The refreshment hour was thus
• made more sociable and enjoyable. The
executive wish to thank all those who
contributed in any way to the success
of the evening.
