McGillicuddy, formerly of Brussels and a sister of Mrs. Dead_ Loan, of Brussels, died at her home in Toronto on Saturday morning. -The Spring Assizes will open in Goderich on Tuesday, March '25th, Chief Justice Faleonbridge presiding, and J. C. Makins, K. C., of Stratford, conduct- ing the Crown business. -The Wingham Choral Society will bold a concert in the opera house on the evening of Friday, April 18th. The concert will be held under the auspices of the Children's Aid Society. -Mrs. Jas. McMullen, wife of Senator T3ieMullen, died at the family home in Mount Forest on Wednesday of last week. Mrs. McMullen had resided in Mount Forest for nearly 57 years. • -George H. Pedlar, President of the Pedlar People, Limited, died suddenly at his home in Oshawa on Sunday. Mrs. •Geikie, formerly of Wingham, is a daughter of the deceased gentleman. -Mayor VanStone has purchased the building lot on the corner of Patrick and Shuter streets from Mrs. Jes. Mc- Guire. A very pleasant evening was spent by the large company. -An Easter Egg Social will be held in the Methodist Church next Mbnday 'evening, under the auspices of the Ep- worth League. A good program is be- ing prepared and every person will be made welcome. Admission 15 cents. --Last Friday Mr. Alex. Kelly, who intends moving to the West, sold his farm in Turnberry, near Wingham to Mr. John McKenzie, formerly of Cul- xoss. Mr. McKenzie has secured a good property and will get p'sss ession at once. -Constable Phippen has purchased a beeutifui Ayrshire cow. This will give George two cows to look after, as well as abut twenty first-class canaries, as well as the parot, which is now a first- class talker and second to none in Huron county. -Mr. George Fox. the well-known concert violinist, whose home is in Walkerton, died suddenly in Toronto on Sunday evening. Deceased was 28 years of age. He has appeared in Winghatn at several concerts during the past few years. -Hon. Malcolm McKenzie, Provincial Treasurer of Alberta, died in Edmonton on Sunday, following a few days illness. Mr. McKenzie was fifty years old and was a native of Kincardine, going West twenty-five years ago and had practiced law at Calgary and McLeod. --Dr. P. _Macdonald. Postrcaster of London and formerly of Wingham rec- ently presented the High School Board of Wingham with a large microscope Tor'uee in the High School. An excellent address by ex -Mayor Spotton wherein he justfied all loyal sons of Eriti in their pride of good St, Patrick; and recitations by Miss Mable MacDonald and William Malsee, which were also well given. But to -the epicureans, the best pint was to come. Mr. James lltenderson very kindly acted as auction- eer,and he not only succeeded in persuad- ing people to buy but also to laugh hear- ily. The boxes were all so .attractive that many found it difficult to decide just which lunch had been prepared by his colleen. in fact so much so, that 'many heagght three or fourbo.xen. Was itthe girl or the box? After much mer- riment, Mr. Wm. Henderson, on behalf of the trustees and teacher heartily thanked those who took part, and also those who were kind enough to turn out as listeners. Each' one knows how he or she reached home, but we presume there was nothing worse than lost rub - herr, wet feet, and muddy lanterns.
