KINLOBS.
Mrs. David Carruthers, one of the old-
est and most respected residents of the
6th con. departed this life Wed. Feb.
12th, having attained the ripe old age
of 77 years and 10 months. Her maiden
name was Rachel Lockhart. She was
.born in the County of Down, Ireland.
Forty-three years ago in company with
!her brothers they left their native land
and came to Canada settling on the 4th
con. of Kinloss. Two years later she
united in marriage with David Car-
ruthers, a pioneer living on the farm on
which she resided until death. Here
they resided for twenty-two years when
the husband passed away very sudden-
ly leaving their four children to be pro-
vided for; this the mother with the help
the older ones were able to give,
succeeded in doing, preserving the home
and making it such that they did not
desire to part from it. A home where
all entered were sure of a hearty wel-
come which won the respect and esteem
of all. It was a mutual love that made
it hard for the family to part with a
kind mother, notwithstanding the fact
that more than the allotted time had

Ex-Reove Thomas Shearer, of How -
ick, was stricken very suddenly with
paralysis at his home, and is at present
in a very serious condition. Mrs. Shear-
er, in addition to the care of her hus-
band, has all the children down with
measles.
ITLYTB.
A quiet weeding was solemnized at
the manse on Wednesday, Feb. 12 by
Rev. W. D. Turner, the contracting
parties being Mr. Nathaniel Sundercock
to Miss Annie Almyra Patterson, of
East Wawanosh. The happy couple
have taken up their residence on Din-
sley St.
LUC KNOW.
Mr. George Irwin, a resident of
Lucknow for several years, died at his
home on Saturday in his 83rd year. He
leaves his wife, one son, Thomas and
three daughters, Mrs. Moise, Mrs.
Fleming and Mrs. Henderson.
George Campbell, aged 54, for many
years a resident of Lucknow, hanged
himself at his home here on Saturday
evening. Mrs. Campbell was away at,
the bedside of a dying uncle, and on re-
turning home in the evening missed her
husband. She went to the barn, and
found him hanging from a beam. That
the suicide was a most deliberate one
was shown by the fact that Mr. Camp-
bell had tied a handkerchief around his
neck before placing a half-inch rope
over his head. He then stood upon a
barrel and kicked it away. He had
been crippled by rheumatism, and was
subject to fits of melancholia. He was
54 years old and is survived by his wife
only.
JAMESTO W N.
The people of Jamestown locality ex-
tend a cordial welcome to Mr. and Mrs.
Badgely in taking possession of the Jno.
Cutt farm which they bought and mov-
ed to this week.
J. and Mrs. Cutt and son removed to,
their new home at Goderich. We hope
they will enjoy many years of comfort
and prosperity. Jamestown will always
have an open door for a visit from them.
The 100 acre farm of Walter L. Breck-
enridge, 1st line, Morris, has been sold
to Robt. Messer, North boundary, for
£4250, possession to he given March 15th.
Buyer and seller are brothers-in-law. Mr.
Breckenridge was born on this farm and
always lived there. He and his mother
will probably take up residence in Wing-
ham after the sale. Mr. Messer will
now have 200 acres. We wish him suc-
cess with his acreage.
