The Presbytery of Maitland met in Wroxeter, on Tuesday, May 21st, with Rev. D. A. McLean, Moderator, pre- siding. It was agreed that the Presbytery pay Commissioners' expenses to the Assembly on the basis of the tourist sleeper except on occasions when As- sembly meets where tourist cars are not available. Mr. West gave report on Statistics showing an increase in contributions to stipends of $2049 also an increase in contributions for all purposes of $5326 and a decrease of $210 for the Schemes of the church. The report was adopt- ed and the convenor authorized to have it printed so that each family in the Presbytety may have a copy. Mr. Perrie reported for the H. M. Committee, stating that he had attend- ed the Synodical Committee meeting which met for one hour and ahalf when nothing was done but to pass on the grants and discussions to the General Assembly's Committee in Toronto. No discussion or opinion was expressed by the Synodical Committee. Mr. Duncan was appointed convener of Committee on Y. P. S. Mr. West gave notice of motion for re -arrangement of Roll of Commission- ers to the Assembly. The Clerk read communication from several Presbyteries announcing their intention to ask leave to receive 22 ministers from ether churches. Presbytery approved the remit for consolidating the various funds of the church. Duff's Church, Walton, was granted permission to mortgage their new church and to change the site. It was agreed that the trustees of Enniskillen church proceed with the sale of the church. Mr. Armstrong, assistant secretary F. M., addressed the meeting. The thanks of the Presbytery was tendered the people of Wroxeter for their splen- did hospitality. W. J. WEST, Clerk. LIVE STOCK MARKETS. Toronto, May 27—Union Stock Yards —Receipts were 109 cars, with 1,924 head of cattle, 1,189 hogs, 206 sheep and lambs, and 116 calves. There was again a very active de- mand for butcher cattle.' Montreal' and other points making large inroads on supplies scarcely equal to local require- ments. The result was a very strong market for butcher cattle of all grades, and an advance over last week's prices of from 15e to 20e. Choice loads of butcher sold freely at $7.50 up to $7.80, and medium butcher strong at $7 to $7.10. Butcher cows and bulls were strong in proportion with the general advance, selling strong at $5 to $6.75, and one or two sales of extra choice at at $7. For the export trade there was a lull in the demand, and prices in this class were inclined to ease off a little, and at best were barely steady with last week. Sheep and lambs were steady at last week's prices. Hogs are weaker, and are quoted 25c iowt'r than lastweek, at $8.75, fed and watered, $8.40 f. o. b., and $9.10, weighed off cars.
