ROBERT DEMI,. timate that at cert We can only h • year over 5,000 hose -power c -an be paper at KNok s. developed, and also s lace tine minimum at about 1,000 horses ewer,' so that in conjunction with Ni gar, power, al- ready at Seaforth, nd within about fifteen miles of the n. w plant, it would be a very desirable .ource of supply for the power users of this district. The commission found that the clow of water was much grater than they expected, and their original estimate of $275,000 for constr ction and equip- ment would have t. be increased to' about $386,000fone 1f If of which would be for dam coustruc on. As the users of power increased t iere would be no reason why Huron county could not have as cheap power as any place in Ontario. If the -mu icipalities wish to go ahead the Goveri ent will advance tht euoney at four p. r cent., repayable in thirty years. Th proposition is to construct the Niagar line from Sea - forth to Goderich at rice, and use the power on the constru tion of the new works. A schedule o prices was pre- sented, but these are .ubject to revis- ion when the amount .f power wanted by the municipalities known. Mayor Spotton and Coun. V Stone attended the meeting as regi •sentatives from Wingham. The price quoted for Wing - ham was $55.82 per horsepower and the town would have to contract for 250 horse power. I t 500 horsepower were used the rate w uld he consider- ably reduced. The nee quoted is for the power delivered o the corporation limits and in order t. use the power it would be necessar for the town to build a distributing station. We are of the opinion that ingham does not need hydro powe . With the town controlling the tw water powers we are in a position t supply power at a lower rate than t at quoted for hydro.
