The Western Fair, London, has long
been famous for special attractions,
and the Fair this year, to be held on
Sept, Stlt to lath, promises to be no
exception to the rule. Visitors will
also be given an opportunity of seeing
the many uses to which the hydro-
electric current may be put ; of listen-
ing to four of the best bands in the
country; of witnessing spirited jump-
ing and speeding, contests of seeing
the best cat and dog• show ever held ;
of "doing" a most attractive Midway,
which will consist of at least 25 good,
clean moral shows and will be the
best ever seen at a London Exhibi-
tion ; and of witnessing a grand
display of fireworks every evening.
IT GROWS HAIR,
BUT NOT AFTER THE HAIR
ROOTS ARE DEAD,
W. T. McKibben will tell you that
he sells a great many bottles of
Parisian Sage because it gives satis-
faction.
He guarantees it to eradicate dan-
drnif, stop falling hair and itching
scalp, or money back.
Parisian Sage will make hair grow
if the hair root is not dead ; it puts
life and luster into dull andfaded hair
and is the most delightful hair dress-
ing in the world. Only 50e a large
bottle.
Parisian Sage is the best hair grow-
er and beautifier, dandruff cure and
scalp cleaner known. Try it on our
money back plan.
Bitten By Stallion.
Geo. Coward, Usborne Tp., had his
left arm badly gashed by the teeth of
a stallion one day last week while re-
turning the animal to the stable. The
horse caught him by the left arm be-
low the elbow, inflicting painful
wounds to wrist and hand.
May Go To Eden.
A railroad projected and built by
Americans may before many years
open up the interior of Asia Minor,
bring the products of this rich but
undeveloped country down to the
Mediterranean coast and, carry the
manufactures of the world and the
globe trotting tourist to the foot of
Mount Ararat, to the supposed Garden
of Eden, the ruins of ancient Babylon
and Nineveh and the unvisited, al-
most unknown cities of the Euphrates
and Tigris valleys. This project has
advanced so far that Dr. Arthur T.
Chester, who has been at its Bead and
who has just returned to the United
States, feels assured of success.

Read Proverbs 243: 17-213,
"If we will not reply to those who
(lander us, they will tire of their dirty
work, or will be powerless for mis-
chief, Evil epeaking seldom injures
those who talc° no notice of it." --J,
B. Gough,
Do you know a saloon that does the
community any good? That makes
ite patrons better husbands and fath-
ers ? That gives anything of value for
the money spent over its bar? That
brings happiness to homes of the men
who patronize ? That aids a young
man in securing a position ? That par-
ents advise their sons to visit? That
makes, better citizens ? That encour-
ages men to lead better lives ? That
should not be wiped off the map be-
came of its menace to the happiness
and welfare of the people of the
neighborhood ?—[Pioneer,
The convict prisons aro crowded
with men who, had they been abstain-
ers from strong drink, Would have
been to -day the support and comfort
of happy families.
If hydrophobia should produce in
this country, one-half of the crime,
poverty, misery, taxation and the
multiplicity of evil that drink does,
there would not bo living dog in Ca-
nada in six months. Every lady
would give up her pet spaniel ; the
bunter, his setter and pointer ; even
the watch dog would be destroyed or
most carefully guarded against con.
tagion.--J. B, Gough.
Harden the brain by drenching it
With - alcohol and you harden the
moral motive. And what ever dis-
organizes the brain, disorganizes the
character.—Joseph Cook.
Can a man lie a little, steal a little,
swear a little and be innocent? Are
there any degrees by which you can
measure the enormity veniality of
these practices ? Is it a trifling thing
to be tipsy and a serious thing to be
drunk? But what does it amount to.
Just this—I desire to fasten the sin
where it belongs, on the cause, not the
effect,—John B. Gough.
Rescued By A Dog.
A dog belonging to George Mc-
Quoid of the 7th con. of Ashfield,
recently performed a remarkable feat
in life saving. The dog in question
has a family of four puppies, and
lives in a barn with them. In the
barn was also a brood of little chick-
ens. Through anoversight a pail
of water was left on the barn floor
over night. Into this water one of
the chickens tumbled early in, the
morning, and would of course soon
have been drowned,had no help
arrived. Help promptly arrived in
the shape of the mother dog, which
fished the chick out of the water,
carried it back to her corner, cuddled
it up between her paws, and was
found shortly afterwards licking it
dry. Reputable witnesses attest the
latter fact, and between the dog and
the pail was a trial of .water splashes
on the floor, which revealed quite
clearly the danger and the rescue of
the bird. Grateful for its treatment,
it was loath to leave the rescuer.
