Merchant -Tailor Clothes
Look Better
They Always Have == They Always Will
That elusive something oalled style cannot be made in a factory.
Good tailoring—the draping and cutting and modeling of cloth
—is an Art, nothing less.
Every good merchant tailor believes this with all his soul.
He knows it from his own year's experience, patience and toil as
a craftsman. He knows that merely to fit is but a small part of
a good tailor's art. The right sort of olothes—the clothes yon want—
appeal as much through fitness as through fit.
•
Through 'an air of distinction and elegance a good tailor eau
express the best there is in you. He can make your clothes bespeak
class. He can preserve individuality. He can give personality a
chance. You want such clothes and they can be had in only one
way—they must be cut and made expressly for you, from faultless
fabrics, by that artist of merohants—a merchant tailor. These are
tailoring facts. In neglecting them you wrong opportunity.

Cattle Poisoned.
Mr, James Earle of the 7th con. of
Ueborne lost three valuable heifers
by death last week, one dying on Fri-
day night and the other two Saturday.
It is without doubt the devilish deed
of some ill disposed wretch, as Veterin{
Sweet of Exeter was called in and
made an examination of the stomach
of one of the animals, when it was
found to contain arsenic. The cattle
were pasturing with a number of
others in the field. It is to be hoped
the guilty parties will be run down
and brought to justice—[Exeter Ad-

RADIANT HAIR.
New York Society Women's flair
Matched Only By Parisians.
While much attention is given to
choicest gowns by Neta 'Stork society
women, the turbulent fad just now is
the care of the hair.
For many years the clever women
of Paris have been famed for the
magnificent beauty of their hair.
"Glorious hair," a Virginian calls
it; "so radiant and luxuriant that it waggon
not only attracts but fascinates and gg
compels unstinted a.dntiration.»
But now that the elite of New
York, ever anxious to improvetheir
beauty, have learned that Parisian
Sage, a remarkable and almost mar-
velous hair nourisher and beautifier,
is almost entirely responsible for the
charming hair of the ladies of France,
the demand for it bas become enor-
motis.
Parisian Sage is now sold all over
C made and in Wingham by W. 3.

An Odd Freak.
A four -legged pheasant was the odd
freak that arrived. at 11r. John Win-
gefelder's on Friday. The head and
body were so unusually large that
had the pheasant lived, all four legs
would probably have been needed to
support It. But it died shortly after
its arrival. It was certainly a rare
monstrosity and nature fairly groan-
ed when she hatched it—[Bruce
Times.
Killed By Lightning.
During the severe electric storm on
Thursday evening, duly 21st, a most
sad fatality occurred at the home of
Mr. Garrett Switzer. 7th con., Kinloss,
near Holyrood, which the lightning
struck, entered an open door and
killed one of his little sons instantly.
The boy was standing about two feet
from the entrance, when the light-
ning struck him. Isis mother and
other members of the family were in
the Baine room with him when it
happened, but they all escaped with a
severe shock.
Loads Of Cash.
On Saturday, July 30th, twenty-five
million dollars of gold, silver and
green -backs, as well as $03,000,000 in
securities were moved from the Con-
tinental National Bank to the Com-
mercial National. The transfer neces-
sitated the use of scores of policemen
and private guards. Two wagons
were used to haul the money. The
two banks have been merged and on
August 1 the New Continental and
Commercial National Bank began
baasitnesa.
A Good Cough Syrup.
Half a pound of flax seed, three
lemons sliced, four quarts of water.
Place on stove and bring to a boil,
then pull back to middle of stove and
cook until all the goodness is out of
seeds and lemon soft, then strain
through cheesecloth and return to
stove and sweeten a little. Beat
enough to dissolve sugar. Cool and
bottle. Keep in ice chest. There
should be about 11- quarts when done.
Commence taking a tablespoonful
every few hours. Take half glass up
to bed and take a little swallow every
time a coughing spell comes on. It
may, during the hot weather, spoil
quickly, It is then best to make half
this amount.
The Western Crops.
Reports received at Winnipeg up to
duly 28th, indicate.that the West will
have about a three-fourths crop. Tile
enormous increase in acreage will
help to keep the total yield up to that
of other years, In Southern Mani-
toba the crop is very poor. The
wheat crop is almost a failure and
thousands of acres are plowed up.
The same is true all through the
south,The centro has a fair crop,
while in the north the yield is splen-
did, The rains of last, week have
helped the later Heide, but in most
cases they came too late to be of
touch value. In a few isolated spots
cutting has already started and about
the end of next week it should be well
under way. There has been another
heavy rain at Brandon and Western
Manitoba which will help the roots'
and will fill out the grain,
Some Good Music.
The Band of the Grenadier Guards
which is being brought across the
ocean to play at the Canadian Nation-
al Exhibition is being widely adver-
tised as the chief musical attraction
at the Japan -British Exhibition, That
is further evidence that it is all that
is claimed for it, viz. that is the finest
Military band in England. And that
means the world, for even the Ger-
mans admit that the British Military
Bands excel all others.
Lake Traffic Heavy..
The summer of 1010 will be recorded
in transportation circles as eclipsing
all previous seasons in passenger
traffic. Although lake travel is al-
ways the heaviest from the 10th to
the last of August, nearly every
steamer arriving and departing at the
head of the lakes carries a full passen-
ger list, and this iii spite of the fact
that there has been an inerease of
approximately 83 per cent, in North
Shore steamship capacity during the
past two year3.
