'John Miller, aged 17, who lives with
his parents, Mr, and Mrs, Jacob Miller,
on the 2nd con., was seriously injured
by the explosion of a gun cartridge' on
Thursday last. The victim of the ac-
cident, in company with his younger
brother had gone on an errand across
the road to Geo. Irwin's. At the lat-
ter place a blank gun cartridge, which
had been fitted oat with a fuse after
the manner of a fire -cracker, was load-
ed with powder and lighted for dis-
charge. Evidently it hung fire or was
approached too soon, but while the
elder boy stooped over it, to investi-
gate, the explosion occurred and the
contents lodge squarely in his face.
A terrible wound resulted. Both eyes
were temporarily blinded ; -the flesh
was brown from the bone in two
places, and the remaining portions of
the face were left raw and discolored
as if recently burned by fire,

The prediction is made by J. Leckie
Wilson that within ten years the
farms of Ontario will double in value,
lie explains this by the statement
that the present high prices for farm

tion will result In a greater demand
for farm property as: a fine paying
investment.
Heavy Hail. Storm.
A heavy hailstorm visited, Innerkip
on Sunday May 29th, doing consider-
able damage to the grain crops, trees
and small fruits, The hail was as.
large as pigeons' eggs, and smashed
the green -houses belonging to. Callan

sand lights and destroying many
plants. Lasting half an hour, the
storin left hailstones lying to a depth
of six inches in places. Only a nar-
row strip of land was affected, green-.
houses two blocks awa . being hardly
touched.

Qbjected. To Flowers.
The Ripley Expreea had the follow•
ing James Saunders has a very
high regard for the sacredness of the
pulpit and Bible, but has no particular
regard for nature in all its beauty,
For this reason he objected to a boa-
quet of flowers being placed on. Huron
Church pulpit. Immediately after
the services on Sunday he carried the
vase with the beautiful flowers to tha
door of the church and destroyed
them. Just why Mr. Saunders should
object to flowers in the pulpit is prob-
ably blown, only by himself. The
Garden of Eden is said to have con-
tained flowers and fruit. Mr. Salm-
dere was not prepared too accept this
kind of decorations for a church pul-
pit. The vase which was an orna-
mental vessel of an antique pattern
was broken in many pieces. The pas-
tor will probably adjust the difficulty
to the satisfaction of the congregation
when he returns home from the Gen-
eral Assembly.
The loss suffered by Mr. O'Neill on
account of the explosion at his mill at.
Kenilworth, is estimated by the
Arthur Enterprise at $4,000,

HAVE YOU A BAD SORE.
If so, remember these facts—Zem-
Buk is now the most widely used balm
in Canada, yet four years ago it .was
unknown here! Why has it become so
popular? Because it heals sores, cure
skin diseases, and does what is claim-
ed for it. Why not let it heal your
sore ?
Remember that Zam-Buk is alto-
gether different to the ordinary oint-
ments. Most of theseconsist of ani-
mal fats. Zana-Buk contains no trace
of any animal fat, or any mineral mat-
ter. It is absolutely herbal.
Remember that Za,m-Buk is at the
salve time healing, soothing, and anti-
septic. Kills poison instantly, and all
harmful germs. It is suitable alike
for recent injuries .,and diseases, and
chronic sores, ulcers, etc. Test how
different and superior Zam-Buk really
is. At all druggists and stores for 50e
a box. You are warned against harm-
ful substitutes and imitations.
