Berry set up to manufacture an
entrance door for residential use.
These were imported into
Canada until 1972, when the
Wingham plant was retooled to
produce this product in Canada.
Later the company expanded
w its operations to Calgary,and `
W.: Montreal. It also changed its
'name to more fully represent its
duct lines, taking the name
,:?wr "ey Door Systems Ltd.
"Due to increased demand for
its products the company moved
q ,
to lar$er facilities in Toronto in
1976 and the entrance door line
was moved there from Wingham.
The Wingham plant now
produces solely garage doors for
the Canadian market.
From a production level of 50
doors per day in 1956, production

110 -TON PRESS produces intermediate members for the sectional steel garage doors
manufactured at the Stanley factory. Although 110 tons might seem like a lot of force,
presses at the factory range up to 300 tons now with even larger equipment planned.
FINAL STAGES—installing the door latches and checking the welds Is one of the final
phases in the construction of a steel garage door. From here the doors go on to get a cost
of paint in a fully automatic spraying machine. Nine women are among the 61 hourly
workers employed at the Stanley door factory.
