ESCAPE ROUTE—When Mr. and Mrs. Bill Lockie of RR 2, Gorrie woke up at around 6
a.m. on Thursday morning, they quickly woke up their four children and escaped through
the upstairs bathroom window. The window, partially hidden In the photo, is the one the
family climed through. The family climbed across the porch roof and lowered themselves
onto the ground. Two of the boys explain the fire escape route, Ron (holding the family's
dog) and Wayne, re-entering the house.
CLOSE—Numerous articles belonging to the Bill Lockle family were burned beyond
repair. Here, it was close when shelves located in the basement of the house toppled over
and came close to the oil tank. The fish tank, which was empty at the time of the fire,
melted. Skates, winter boots and children's games make up,the rubble In the lower left
side of the photo.
