Talking back
TV series
to continue
'An unprecedented opportunity
for Canadians to say :..hgt thev
think' is how organizers are
describing 'People Talking
Back', a six -part television series
sponsored by the CBC and the
Canadian Association for Adult
Education.
A switchboard set up to record
the opinions of Canadians on
social, economic, cultural and
political affairs was swamped
with thousands of phone calls
from across Canada during a
three-hour premiere of the series
Feb. 4.
Panel groups made up of or-
dinary citizens assembled in
each of the 10 provinces and
discussion on their concerns
sparked the flood of telephone
calls.
Five shows on CBC will act as
follow-ups to the original. 'So
We're Different: Dilemmas
Created by Our Differences' will
be Feb. 2.5 at 1 p.m. 'Let's Get It
Straight: Do Politicians and the
Media Confuse Issues'" will be
March 11 at 1 p.m. and 'Winners
or Losers: Are We Winning or
Losing the Economic Battle"'
will be March 2.5 at 4:30 p.m.
The fourth show in the follow-
up series will be April 6 at 1 p.m.
and is titled 'Canadians at Work:
Unrest and Change in the Labor
Scene' and the final show is
called 'Where Do We Go From
Here : Alternative Options for the
Future' and will be broadcast
April 22 at 4:30 p.m.
The five remaining shows in
the 'People Talking Back' series
will be half hour programs,.
