The approach of the Christmas
season set the theme for the wor-
ship service which was opened by
Mrs. Nicholson with a Christmas
reading. After a carol was sung,
Mrs. Viola Campbell read scrip-
ture from St. Luke's Gospel.
Mrs. Carl Johnston then intro-
duced three visitors, Mrs. Maria
Andersen, a native of Denmark;
Mrs. Marie deVos from Holland
and Mrs. Maria Otvos from Hun-
gary. During a panel discussion
led by Mrs. Peecock, they told of
Christmas in their homelands. In
each instance, Christmas Day
itself is a holy day to celebrate
Christ's birthday. Secular cele-
brations take place the night
before or the day following. They
reminisced on childhood days,
the war years and their first im-
pressions of Canada. Their dia-
logue proved very interesting to
their audience.
In appreciation, thank -you gifts
were presented to the visitors.
