New McIntosh minister
tells of life in Korea
BELMORE — The annual
Thankoffering npeeting of the
McIntosh United Church Women
was held Wednesday, October 30,
with a large attendance. Guests
attended from Belmore United,
Belmore Presbyterian, Gorrie
-United, Mildmay United, Mild-
may Roman Catholic, Mildmay
Lutheran and Clifford United.
The president, Y_ -s. Everett
Dustow, welcomed the ladies and
the meeting was opened with the
singing of the hymn, "Now Thank
We All Our God". Mrs. David
Harper was in charge of devo-
tions and read Psalm 100. A brief
meditation followed and devo-
tions were closed with prayer.
The Mari -Bel singers, a chorus
from the Belmore area, were
guest entertainers of the evening
and sang "Fairest Lord Jesus"
and "Now Thank we All Our
God".
Mrs. Mary Renwick then intro-
duced Mr. Park, the new minister
at McIntosh, who was the guest
speaker of the evening. Mr. Park
showed a film on Korea, telling of
its culture and life-style and
beautiful scenery. The hymn, "In
Christ There Is no East or West",
was sung.
Mr. Park then told of the cus-
toms, culture and life in Korea.
Mrs. Sun Park wore a very
beautiful Korean -style dress and
shoes to the meeting which were
much admired. Mr. Park an-
swered questions from the
audience about Korea, concern-
ing living conditions, poverty, the
elderly, etc. The Parks came to
Canada approximately 10 years
ago. He was presented with a gift
from the UCW and thanked for
coming to the meeting.
The Mari -Bel singers then pre-
sented two more numbers,
"Thanksgiving Hymn" and
"Kindness". They were accom-
panied by Evelyn Dickson on the
organ. The offering was received
and dedicated.
The meeting was closed by
singing "Abide with me" and
prayer. A social hour and lunch
were then enjoyed in the church
basement.
