scored a 4-3 win to tie the series
after losing the first game in Port
Elgin. Saturday night they lost a
heartbreaker, 2-0, here.
Don Edgar locked horns with
Vince Mullens in the nine -inning
thriller and came home a loser.
He allowed seven hits, struck out
seven and walked one. One error
accounted for one unearned run
and a disputed fly ball caused the
other.

Port Elgin scored their only
earned run in the eighth when
Bob Kirk hit a fly ball to left field.
The ball appeared to drop in foul
territory but the plate umpire
ruled it 'fair'. He stated that, in
the ground rules, any ball which
went around a light standard,
whi'ch is on the playing surface in
left field, and wasn't caught is a
fair ball.
Kirk ended up on third base and
Jim McKinnon batted him home
with a single. Port Elgin left the
bases loaded in the inning.
Mullens scored the first run of
the game in the fifth inning after
he singled to lead off. He was
moved to second on a bunt and
scored on a liner to centrefield by
Jim McKinnon.
Wayne Coultes spoiled Mullens'
no-hitter in the top of the sixth
when he beat out an infield
grounder for a single. Wingham
only had two other runners on
base. One on a walk and one on an
error.
Kirk's disputed triple was the
only extra base blow of the game.
Jim McKinnon and Bryan Craw-
ford had two hits each for Port
Elgin. Bob McKinnon and Mul-
lens had a single each.
The same two teams, minus a
few imports, nowmeet for the
Western Ontario Athletic
Association title. The two teams
revert back to their original line-
ups after picking up additional
players for the OASA series.

pire was late for the game and
took over after the game had
started. He wasn't familiar with
the ground rules and made some
poor calls.
The. three local players that
were ejected happened to be the
three that were picked for the all-
star game.
Tom Robinson had a good
game at the plate with a homer
and three singles. Wayne Brown
had a triple, double and two
singles. Gerry Edwards chipped
in with three doubles while Case -
more had three singles.
Frank Heard was at his swing-
ing best with a homer and single,
Bauer and Wellwood had two
singles each with Bob Foxton,
Bruce Foxton and Bruce Machan
getting a single apiece.
The local team had to play
without a full team from the
seventh inning on but still made
their presence felt.
The next home game for Wing -
ham will be tonight (Thursday)
at 9 p.m, at Town Park.

Bluevale wins

championship
BELGRAVE — Bluevale
juvenile girls won the Tri -County
Juvenile Girls' 'Softball League
championship with a 23-15 win
over Belgrave Monday night.
They won the bestof4even final,
4-2.
Friddy night in Bluevale the
winners scored a 21-20 victory.
Karen Coultes and Kitty Hart-
lieb were the big hitters for Bel -
grave on Monday' with home
runs. Karen had three homers in
and -home series which involved a
lot of travelling. By having all the
tearris meet in one place it speeds
up the championship and finishes
before school starts.
The PeeWees have been picked
as a test case for three years.
If it works well, all teams
which progress to OBA play
downs will follow the same pro-
gram. The only drawback to this
is, it is harder for the smaller
centres. They don't .have the
pitching staff as in the larger
places.
The Brophy club is hoping to
come home with a trophy Mon-
day night. However, even if they
made it to the semi-finals they
will have accomplished some-
thing no other Wingham club has
done recently.
At the Movies
Nearly four years after that
piece of tape was found on the
door of the Democratic national
headquarters at the Watergate
complex in Washington, D.C.,
prompting the gruelling investi-
gation that uncovered one of the
greatest political scandals in
U.S: history, the entire machin-
ery behind it has been superbly
chronicled in the film, "All the
President's Men". Based on the
best-selling book by Carl Bern-
stein and Bob W'bodward, the two
Washington Post reporters who
persisted in their investigation
which finally led to the White
House, "All the President's Men"
is a suspenseful detective story
as well as a behind -the -scenes
newspaper drama.
What starts off as a routine as-
