W. Wawanosh mill rate
increased from 1975
West Wawanosh Township
Council has set its budget for
1976. After discussing the various
expenditures for the year, a mo-
tion by Councillors Hickey and
Cranston accepted the auditor's
report for 1975 and the budget for
1976. Bylaw 7 was also passed
setting the 1976 mill rates.
Mill rates are: municipal, 23.59
and 27.75; county, 16.76 and 24.88;
elementary, 23.17 and 25.74; sec-
ondary, 21.95 and 24.39; Auburn,
20.46 and 24.07; Huron -Perth
County Separate School, 29.17;
Bruce -Grey Separate School,
24.08 and Dungannon lights, 9.21.
Generally speaking, the rates are
up from last year.
In other business, four ratepay-
ers from Dungannon asked coun-
cil to repair and improve an
existing drain in the village. It is
causing a water problem during
rains and thaws. Clerk Joan
Armstrong was instructed to
search for the original plan of the
drain so that the work could be
carried out and charges as-
sessed.
Also on the subject of drains,
council agreed with the Township
of Amaranth's resolution con-
cerning the removal of restric-
tion of money available for, tile
drainage loans.
Councillors Hickey and Foran
made a motion that advertise-
ments be placed in the London
Free Press for one week concern-
ing construction tenders for the
Millian Drainage Works.
Six tenders were received for
pit -run gravel. Council accepted
the tender of Robert Farrish Con-
struction, Listowel, at 45 and 40
cents.
Several people attended coun-
cil meeting to present proposals
or make requests. Alvin Sher-
wood asked that, his farmland,
adjacent to Dungannon, be incor-
porated into the Secondary Plan
for West Wawanosh Township
when the County Planning de-
partment develops such a plan.
Albert Plasschaert asked about
a culvert across his laneway.
Council advised him to take no
definite steps to install a culvert
until the report on the Smyth
Drain is received.
On behalf of the Recreation
Committee, Walter Arnold
sought approval for a plan to in-
stall lights in the Dungannon
Agricultural Park: Councillors
Foran and Stothers made a mo-
tion "That West Wawanosh
Township Council grant approval
to proceed to take the necessary
steps for financing the installa-
tion of lights for night activities in
the Dungannon Agricultural
Park, which includes an applica-
tion for a Wintario Grant."
On a land purchase item, coun-
cil agreed to purchase part of Lot
13 on Concession 2 from Delmar
Sproul for $100.
Council ordered that road ac-
counts be paid and passed gener-
al accounts for payment.
