A motion was passed at the
Western Ontario Athletic As-
sociation's annual meeting in
Wingham, April 21, that a new
system for softball winners be in-
stituted. The new pennant system
will provide for emblemmed pen-
nants with the WOAA crest for
the top team in each group. The
top teams are to be chosen at the
end of the schedule, August 1.
In other business, the associa-
tion decided with a majority vote
that the 12" hall will be adopted
for all Juvenile, Junior and Inter-
mediate Ladies' leagues; to
change the pitching distance
from 40'8%" to 40' for the girls'
leagues, and that all certificates
should be in by July 15. No onf
will be allowed to play without a
signed certificate.
The entry deadline this year
will be May 1 for playoff and not
group play. All other teams are to
be entered no later than June 15.
Entries are to be made out to the
secretary -manager of the WOAA.
Remaining clinics for umpires
are in Harriston, May 2 at 1 p.m.
and Rostock, May 16 at 1 p.m.
The newly elected representative
to the WOAA Softball Committee
is Larry Cook.
Each convener is to contact the
clubs in his or her groups to set a
meeting to draw -up the season
schedule.
