Dunlop. dies at Hanover A businesswoman on Wingham's main street for many years, Mrs. Vern Dunlop of Hanover, formerly of Wingham, passed away Thursday, June 23, at Hanover and District Hospital in her 77th year. Mrs. Dunlop was the former Mildred Agar, a daughter of the late Chester Agar and Florence Tew. She was born in Chatham on November 29, 1906. For many years, Mr. and Mrs. Dunlop earned the respect of many in the community as proprietors of the Dunlop Shoe Store on Josephine Street. He passed away in 1981. ' Mrs. Dunlop was a member of Huron Chapter No. 89, Order of the Eastern Star. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Don (Mary Lou) Thompson of Tees - water and Greer Dunlop of Toronto. There are four grandchildren, Gail, Sandra, Christine and Philip Thompson; one sister, Mrs. Walker (Doris) Jenkins of . *indsor; and one brother, Gordon Agar, Iona Station. Funeral service was conducted at one o'clock on Saturday by Rev. James R. Stockton, with interment following in Wingham Cemetery. Pallbearers were D. Robert Montgomery, Murray Taylor, Arthur Wright, Emery Stuckey, George Carter and Dave Thompson. Gordon Buchan- an and Philip Thompson carried floral tributes. Honorary bearers were Ed Edighoffer, John Currie, John Mann and Murray Underwood. Thank you Mrs®;' ,edies at Callander The death occurred at Callander Nursing Home, Brussels, on Monday, June 20, of Mrs. Ethel Jane Bone of Brussels. She was 87 years of age.. The former Ethel Jane Sellers, Mrs. Bone was predeceased by her husband George in 1975. She is sur- vived by one daughter, Mrs. Dorothy McCauley of Brussels, and was the grandmother of Gerald of Brussels, Donald, Goderich, and Barry, Stratford. There is one great grandson, Steven McCauley of Brus- sels. She was predeceased by one sister, Mrs. Mark (Eliz- abeth) Garniss (Wingham), and three brothers, Bill, Jack and Percy. Funeral service was held Wednesday, June 22, at two o'clock at the Brussels Chapel of M. L. Watts Funeral Homes, Rev. Ken Innes of Melville Presby- terian Church officiating. Interment followed in Brus- sels Cemetery. Pallbearers were John McArter, Earl Sellers, George McCutcheon, Jack McCutcheon, Glen Bone and Harry Garniss. The Wingham Advance -Times, June 29, 1983—Page 7 Archie Campbell passes suddenly Gladwyn Archibald (Archie) Campbell of 531 Cedar Street, Wingham, passed away suddenly in Wingham on Saturday, June 25. He was in his 78th year and death followed a brief illness. Born in Osprey Township, Grey County, on July 1, 1905, Mr. Campbell was a son of the late Archibald Campbell and Elizabeth Hayes. He received his elementary education at Macintyre Public School and farmed during his early lifetime. He later worked as a laborer, retiring eight years ago. Mr. Campbell married the former Laving Jones in Bluevale on September 8, 1934, and they have lived in the Wingham area since June of 1951. He was a member of St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and the Canadian Order of Foresters. Surviving, besides his wife, is one daughter, Mrs. Darlene Tedesco of Niagara Falls. There are five grandchildren, Laurie, Robert, Cheryl, Mark and William; and two sisters, Mrs. Cecil (Elsie) Ferguson of Collingwood and Mrs. Richard (Marion) Hallam, Feversham. He was predeceased by an infant daughter, Gladys Carolyn, and one sister, Mrs. John (Myrtle) Raffan, formerly of Toronto. The late Archie Campbell rested at The Currie -Walker Funeral Home, Wingham, Oldest resident of Howick, Mrs. Cathers dies at 105 MRS. MARTHA CATHERS Howick Township's. oldest resident, Mrs. David J. Cathers, passed away Friday, June 24, at the Fordwich Village Nursing Home at the age of 105 years. Mrs. Cathers was the former Martha Cathers, a daughter of the late Jacob Cathers, who came to Canada from Ireland at the age of 19, and his wife, the former Jane Finlay. She was born on November 26, 1877, in a log house on the 14th concession of Howick Township. In 1905, she. married Mr. Cathers and they farmed in various locations in Howick Town- ship before retiring to Wingham in 1947. Mr. Cathers passed away in 1957 and, when failing health made keeping her home too much for Mrs. Cathers, she became a nursing home resident. She has been at the Fordwich home since 1977 and despite her advanced years, was mentally alert and a joy to everyone she met. Mrs. Cathers is survived by one son, Lloyd of RR 1, Hanover; a stepson, Wesley of Hamilton; a stepdaughter, Mrs. Jennie Vittie of Wainfleet; ten grand- children and several great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. The last surviving member of her family, she was predeceased by four sisters and two brothers. The late Mrs. David Cathers rested at the Gorrie Chapel of M. L. Watts Funeral Homes where friends paid their respects until Tuesday when service was held at two o'clock, Rev. Lloyd Martin officiating. She was borne to her final resting place in Gorrie Cemetery by Elden and Murray Cathers, Bruce Richmond, Eldred Cathers, Raymond Neill and Gordon Vittie. Debra Rich- mond and Jannine Cathers carried floral tributes. Service Sun. for Wroxeter native Funeral service was held Sunday for Donald Stevenson Milligan of 6 Maple Street, Elmira, who passed away at his home on Friday, June 24. Rev. John Oestreicher was the of- ficiating clergyman and interment followed in Wroxeter Cemetery. Pallbearers were Sandy and Don Gibson, Jack and Wayne Brown, Greg Brown and Bruce Arndt. Mr. Millign was born in Wroxeter 57 years ago, a son of the late Peter Milligan and Violet Adams. He is survived by two children, Cindy and Steven, both at home; five sisters, Mrs. George (Maud) Paulin and Mrs. Ina Wightman, both of Clifford, Mrs. Jean Gibson and Miss Helen Milligan, both of Wroxeter, and Mrs. Norman (Isobel) Ashby, Waterloo; and one brother, Jack Milligan of Wroxeter. ' until Tuesday when service was conducted at two o'clock by Rev. Paul L. Mills. Final resting place is Wingham Cemetery. Pallbearers were Murray Jenkins, Ross Smith, Gerald Shackleton, Ivan McFarlan, Gordon Jones and Elmer McFarlan. Mr. Campbell's grandchildren acted as flower bearers. Honorary pallbearers were Paul Hayes and Howard Ferguson.
