I 'only wish I had the time and the staff to reply to each one of you. Please accept this "Thank you" for all the nice things you have written. Many of you ask questions and would like a reply, and although these answers may be short, 1 do my best to supply the .information. However, in future, unless your requests are accom- panied with, a stamped re- turn envelope, I will only be able to reply through the column. The cost of printing steadily rises and so:. far I have kept the patterns to 75 cents, envelopes are more expense and so is office help, plus they have moved the Sliced, Frozen SIDE BACON Sold by the case of 5 kg (11 Ib.) I agree with a number of readers who say the instruc- tions of knitted garments very rarely include the size 40. One particular lady wanted a simple channel type jacket, raglan style in this size and I was able to recommend Leaflet No. 6732 which. has two variations of stitch and trim. Those of you who are looking for this larger size might be inter- ested in this design. It is ideal for slipping on around the house. Another reader was inquiring about a drop shoulder type of pullover with a Scandinavian type of design across the yoke. Leaf- let No. 6824 has just such a design and the instructions given are for size 12 to 18. For those of you inquiring about a knitted beret type hat, the directions for these are on Leaflet 6907. I have actually made this one for myself using Jaeger Super Chenille instead of a mohair, and it looks super! For a crochet beret, with or without a peak, instruc- tions for these are on leaflet No. 7016. Any of these leaf- lets are available for the usual price along with a stamped self addressed return envelope. This week's pattern is for mitts and hats for the 6 to 8 year size. Quickly and easily knitted, these fun mitts will give you some added plea- sure making them! To order Leaflet No. 82104, or any other leaflet men- tioned, send 75 cents for each copy, plus a stamped self addressed return envelope. If you do not have a stamp or envelope, please enclose an extra 40 cents to cover the cost of handling and print your name and address. Send to Louisa Rush, Craft Talk, 486 Montford Drive, Dollard des Ormeaux, P.Q., H9G 1M6. Please be sure to state pattern numbers cor- rectly when ordering and to enclose your stamped return le. Yur Handwriting Tells By DOROTHY ST. JOHN JACKSON Certified Master Graphoanalyst Dear Dorothy: My great- est dream is to be a writer, to write best sellers and to • be recognized for my writ- ings. Yet,I am so discour- aged and_ don't feel I will ever be able to sell, much. less be recognized. - S.W. Dear S.W.: Lack of confi- dence is dragging you down. Lack of faith in yourself, seen in the low t crossings, locks you into a day-to-day kind of living. You fear to try. to plan, to look ahead. To make a dream come true, you have to first of all desire it so intensely that you are willing to work for it for a long time. You have to strengthen your will and FINAL 3 DAYS Wilson's Storewide Sale 2. off our entire stock wIs n's ladle& wear Wallace Ave, N.1 Listowel determination to succeed so much that you can push aside any obstacles that get in your way._ The road to the top is steep and rough. To make it, you have to concentrate, pull yourself together and direct your energies. You are too widespread, seen in the too wide spacings be- tween letters, and you lack concentration, seen in your large writing. As for plenty of writing aptitude, you've got it. The delta d, greek e, breaks in words and lack of upstrokes, all pinpoint your talent potential. So establish your goal. Gather in your forces to give it the push it needs to start rising above a "today" level. To succeed you have to go one way or another. You can't take step one, if you fling your- self off in all directions. To realize your dream, you need hope and plenty of light in your life to see where you're going. It's normal to get dis- couraged. Remember when it strikes you that you can't succeed that even the greatest of our well- known writers had this feeling, too. They had their low moments when they were sure they'd never make it either. But they tied together their forces to achieve, they directed their energies, they en- dured and they did it. You can do it, too. Take a step in the right direction. Take a few. AiHbfN7f iJ tt:,is< a oe.. w c 0R S S w O R D S ,. icIQOSS 1. Ciissi6edg 4. Friend: French 7. Nigerian native 10. Short swim 11.
