WEDDING ANNOUNCEMENT • Richard Elliott Jr., Wing - ham, Ont., and Barbara May Cameron, Goderich, Ont., were married at the home of the bride's parents on De- cember 31, 1982. Richard and Barbara are the children of Richard and Margaret El- liott of Wingham, Ont., and Don and Margaret Cameron, RR 2, Lucknow, Ont. Teeswater resident, Walter Ballagh dies Passed away peacefully at Brucelea Haven, Walkerton, on Sunday, Jan. 2, Walter H. Ballagh of Teeswater. He was in his 84th year. Mr. Ballagh was born on the 2nd line of Clulross Town- ship on Jan. 11, 1899. He was the son of the late Robert Ballagh and Elizabeth Hall. He took over the home farm until his retirement to Teeswater a number of years ago. He was a member of Knox Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, the former Wilhelmina McDonald, a son Lorne of St. Thomas, two grandchildren, one great-grandson and a brother, Arthur -6f Wingham. He was predeceased by two )sisters, Mrs. Morris ( Emma) Brown and Miss Mabelle BaIlagh,' and two brothers, Leslie and Fleming. The late Walter Ballagh rested at• the MacPherson Funeral Home in Teeswater where friends paid their respects until Tuesday, when services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. by the Rev. Douglas Lennox. Interment was in the Teeswater Cemetery. Pallbearers were Gordon Stobo, Alex Chatreau, Wallace Ballagh, John Norman, Jack Ballagh and Alan MacRae. • Floral tributes were carried by David Ireland and Alan Whytock. Alice G. Kalish dies in Wingham -hospital Friends and family were saddened by the passing of Alice Gertrude Kalish of Wroxeter, December 25 in the Wingham and District Hospital. She was 47 years of age. She was born in Culross Township to Ulmont Moore and Dorothy Eckenswill'er: The late Mrs. Kalish.was a member of the Wroxeter United Church and was predeceased by her mother in 1978, her first husband, Thomas Bonnett and one brother, Thomas, of Elm- wood. Left to mourn her passing are her husband, Willys of Wroxeter; one daughter, Darlene, and two sons, Ivan and Charles, all at home; her fat W miiionT'Moore of Palmerston; four sisters, Mrs. Agnes Hetsler of Wingham, Mrs. Shirley Hamilton and Mrs. Joyce Broome, both of Ear Falls and Mrs. Pauline Bates of Calgary, Alberta; four brothers, Frank of Drayton, Walter of Whitechurch, and Charles and Joe of Wroxeter. -The late' Mrs. Kalish rested at the M. L. Watts Funeral Home, Gorrie Chapel until Tuesday, December 28 when Rev. Lloyd 'Martin of Wroxeter. United Church conducted funeral services at 2 p.m. . Temporary entombment in Gorrie Cemetery Chapel with spring interment in the Wroxeter Cemetery. Pallbearers were Doug, Richard, Gordon, Bill- and Gary Moore and. Bruce Hetsler and flower bearers were Sandra, Cindy and Linda Moore, Isabel Hetsler, Doris Lantz , and Karen Wright. Morris council adheres to gov't wage guidelines Morris Township council adhered strictly to the government's guidelines for negotiating wage increases for employees and for council members them- selves at Monday's meeting. Clerk -Treasurer Nancy Michie went to $7.30 an hour from $6.75 in 1982. Council granted Mrs. Michie a five per cent wage increase plus a three per cent, merit in- crease. The maximum in- crease tp employees who earn under $20,000 is $1,000 a year, which is what council gave Mrs. Michie. In 1982,, she said she earned ap- proximately $14,000; this year she will earn around $15,000. Council also increased the rent paid for the township office to $75 a month from $60. The office is located in Mrs. Michie's home. Council members took no increise in pay for 1983. The reeve will receive $1,200 a year, the deputy reeve, $1,050 and the councillors each $1,000. But the special meeting rate was increased to $30 per meeting for the reeve, up from $25, and to $25 per meeting for the coun- cillors from $20. Also, it was decided the township will pay the dif- fer nce for having a private tele ahone line installed at the reeve's home. The township's mileage rate was increased to 35 cents a mile or 20 cents a kilometre, up from 30 cents a mile. The township's casual labor rate increased by five per cent to $6.30 an hour from $6.00. George Michie, the town- ship's tile drain inspector, will receive $16 per in- spection plus mileage, up from $15 last year. Adam Smith, the caretaker at the waste disposal site, will receive a five per cent wage increase as well: up to $6.30 an hour from $6.00. Glen Casemore and Carmen Craig, Morris .Township's two livestock valuers will receive $8.40 an hour this year, up from $8.00 in 1982. Poundkeepers are: Keith Johnston, Clarence Goll, Ross Turvey, Harvey Edgar, Jim Bowman, Wayne Hopper, Frank Procter, David Marks, Lloyd Michie Fred Stute, Ronald Gordon, Willis Craig, George Blake and Ray Heuther. Fenceviewers also °will receive $8.40 an hour in 1983, up from $8.00 an hour last -year and are: John Nixon, Doug Garniss, Harold Johnston, John Cardiff, William Peacock, Jim Bowman, William Souch, John Brown, John Nesbitt, Ken MacDonald, George Blake and Clarence Mc- Cutcheon. A number of appointments were made at the meeting as well: Isobel Garniss, Wingham and District Hospital Board; Allen - Searle, Seaforth Hospital Board; Councillor Douglas Fraser and Deputy Reeve Thomas Miller, the Blyth and District Fire Board: Doug Machan, Allan Campbell, Mr. Fraser and Councillor Clem McLellan, the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre Board; Carmen Craig and Bruce Richmond, the Blyth Community Centre Board; Councillor Robert Grasby and George Procter, the Belgrave Community Centre Board; Etoile Johnston, Ross Turvey and Reeve William Elston, the Bluevale Hall Board; council. clerk - treasurer and the road superintendent, the Morris TownsF-ip Recreation, Com- mittee; Donald Craig, the Blyth Union' Cemetery Board; Jim Mair and Bill Turnbull, the _Brussels Medical Centre Board; and, the Maitland Valley Con- servation Authority, Mr. Grasby. Mr. Fraser reported the Blyth fire department , will receive delivery of its new 865.000 fire truck this year. Morris Township will be expected to pay 15:per cent of the cost of the new truck or $9,750. The township's levy toward the operating cost of the department in 1983 will be $3,750. • Council tabled a copy of the Belgrave Community Centre Board agreement until next meeting. The agreement states it will not be reviewed again until 1985, but Morris council members said they felt it should be reviewed yearly.' Also, they are concerned about a section which -states the East `Wawanosh road superin- tendent and the Morris road superintendent will work together to build up the road leading 'to the ball park. Morris council wants that section clarified before it signs the agreement. Council donated $25 to the Canadian National Institute for the Blind at the meeting. The next meeting of Morris council is scheduled for Feb. 7 at 10 a.m. at the township shed. MRS. The former Elizabeth Barr, she was the beloved wife of the late Thornds. Thomson (1967) and dear mother to Mrs. Evelyn Graham, 'of Wingham, and Elizabeth (,Mrs. Paul Hershey) , Kent, Ohio. Also left to mourn are three grand- children, six great-grand- children and four great - great -grandchildren. She was predeceased by four brothers and one sister, all in Scotland. The late Mrs. Thomson rested at the Currie -Walker Funeral Home, Wingham, until Wednesday, Jan. 5, where a complete funeral service wag held at 2 p.m., Rev. J. Rea Grant officiating. Spring interment in the Wingham Cemetery. Donations to the Ontario Heart Foundation would be appreciated as ex- pressions of sympathy.
