A cooking demonstration called "More Cents than Dollars" was presented by Mrs. Les Jacklin and Mrs. Mack Hutchison. Members and their guests were able to sample the many delicious casseroles and were given cookbooks outlining creative and economical recipes. Early in December, children's flannelette night- gowns ?IIwere made by In- stitute members and sent to the 5alvation Army to be included in the Christmas boxes for needy families. The meeting closed with a social time enjoyed by all present. New Year's holiday quiet In spite of its combination with a . full moon, often a portent of trouble, the New Year's holiday was a . safe and quiet one in the Wingham district, police report. There were a number of liquor seizures, but overall there were very few problems of any kind, in- cluding impaired driving. As . a rule, there have not been many problems with impaired driving over the New Year's holiday, reported Cpl. William Skelding of the OPP Wingham detachment. People usually plan their transportation in advance, and with the kind of parties popular now, including dinners and snacks, "they usually go home kind of sober." Matthew, all of Oakville, `visited Mr. and Mrs. James Hy dman, Kelly and Jen - at Guelph on New Year's Day before James Hyndman left for Trinidad where he has been stationed en behalf of his company, Northern Telecom, Canada. Clara McCallum of Stratford spent the week with Mrs. Sheldon Mann. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Mc- Callum 'of Stratford were, New Year's supper guests at the same home.
