Ptegets spokesman reported
that approximately 250
people attended the three
performances.
An 6.added feature t
"Ala0din" was the fact that
it qualified kinder the Ontario
HalfbackPlan for admission
to. Canadian performances.
Past president of the troupe,
Sandra Lee., said the Half-
back plan of turning in used
Wintario tickets for
discounts on ticket prices
proved quite popular and
many people took advantage
of the offer.
The two -act play was set in
Peking. The interesting part
about "Aladdin!' was the
role reversal of the principal
characters. Ian Deslauriers
played an amusing and
cantankerous Widow
Twankey who pursued a
meek and mild Wishy Washy
played by Steve Penny.
The story revolved around
the boy Aladdin and his
magical 'lamp. Donna
Haskins portrayed Aladdin
with a suitably vile Fred
Martinovic as his Wicked
Untie.
Linda Young played the
princess, Aladdin's love
interest, with Cheryl Hub-
bard as her Lady -in -Waiting.
Brenda Deyell played the
Fairy Queen while Carol
Johnstone portrayed the
Genie.
Dr. Jim Hall's booming
voice served him well as the
Mandarin of Peking and
Terry Nesbitt .played the
mandarin's "yes -Man"

recent federal budget, the
Wintario lottery and
Saturday night Junior
Citizen dances all drew
laughter from the crowd.
There was also .an unex-
pected visit. from Santa
Claus during the in-
termission. He helped Ms.
Lee draw the names of, two
people who will receive free
tickets to the troupe's next
production in March. Draw
winners were Grace
Hodgkinson and Sylvia
Ricker.
The Towne Players have
attracted many new
Members this year. New
faces in last week's
production included Terry
Nesbitt, Fred Martinovic,
Cheryl Hubbard, Brenda
Deyell, Carol Johnstone and
Jim Hall.
The Towne Players have a
very busy year ahead of
them. Casting for their
March production of "Plaza
Suite", a Neil Simon
comedy, will begin the first
week in January. The troupe
also has entered a one -act
competition in Harriston in
May and will present "The
Clock Struck Twelve", a
thriller, in June.
