The Itimnien were any:

• Match, playing perhaps their
worst game of -the season.
They lacked anything

the contest: • •
The Green Machine scored
three goals in both' the first
and third periods, adding
two more in the second as
they completely outplayed
the hapless Ironmen. .The
only time the Wingham club
lcioked like a bona fide team
was in .the opening aye
minutesof the first and third
periods. Goaltenders Don
Higgins.and Trevor William-
son were victims of a poor
showing by all concerned.
In the early stages of the
first period, Rick
Scrimgeour and Murray
Dewar had . excellent
chances, but the puck went
wide of the mark or over the
crossbar. Steve Jenkins
made the most of his chance,

It appeared the Ironmen
would make a go of it as they

the loose puck .underneath
the outstretched pad of Gary
Trimble on the second at-

Ironmen gave up a bad goal
six seconds later, with Mike

Wingham was held

History of Scout emblem
As Scouts around the world
prepare to celebrate the 75th
anniversary of Scouting in
1982 and '83, questions are
being aksed about the origins
of the Scout emblem.
The basic design of the
emblem is used by Scouts in
all 150 Scouting countries
and territories. The emblem
is one of the more Widely
recognized symbols in the
world because it has been
worn by an estimated 200 -
million former Scouts as well
as some 16 -million , present
day Scouts.
As Lord Baden-Powell,
founder of the Scouting
movement, Wrote, "Our
badge we took from the
'North Point' used on maps
for orienting them with
north."
Lady Bad -Powell later
;
rebind a &out he is -to be as
true and reliable as a
compass in keeping to his
Scouting ideals and in
showing the way to others,
in scouting, the three tips
of the emblem represent the
Scout Oath or Scout
Promise. The two fiv
pointed stars represent the
original 10 points of the Law,
and in some countries also
stand for truth and
knowledge.
The World scout Emblem
uses the arrowhead
surrounded by a 'rope in a
circle toed with a reef or
square knot to symbolize
unity and world bretherhood
throughout the Scout
movement.
The arrowhead and rope
are white on a background of
royal purple, the colors
chosen by the founder. In
heraldry, purity is the virtue
most frequently SyMirlized
by white, while `0114,,Apl
purple denotes lettitithip
and helping others.

In the final frame the

their initial efforts were

Wingharn continued t

period deserted them and
they became lethargic, with
no apparent desire.
Robert Culp upped the

already disheartened
Wingham club. Bid the
