Belga euchre party There were...four tables in play at the WI Hall on Wed- nesday evening, when the Belgrave Euchre Club held its first card party for the season. High lady was Mrs. Kenneth Wheeler; low lady, Mrs. George Johnston; high man, Lewis Stonehouse; low man, Lawrence Taylor. Next euchre will be held on October 28 starting at 8:00 p.m. Everyone welcome: BELGRAVE1 Our fifth meeting opened with the 4-H pledge and our roll calls, giving ideas for a coming up skit. Veronica Bakelaar, Joan and Ruth Higgins were appointed to write it up in good copy. We made the 'batter for crearilt puffs and then baked then. We marked our books. We learned how to cook eggs, then we planned Sur food party'for the next meeting. We went to the kitchen and prepared' Chicken: a la King for .ouF cream puff filling: The meeting closed :with the 44H motto. JUNIOR CHAMPION®it was father honoring son when Neil McGavin of RR 4, Walton presented the Junior champion award to his son Brian. Retiring Queen of • the Fur- row Debbie Armstrong of the Wingham area, told over 300 in attendance she had en- joyed her year as queen.. She said the International Plow- ing Match was a highlight of her year. In 1978, the IPM was held on the farm of Deb- bie's father, Jim Armstrong. Cole- man, Helen Craig and Ruth Townsend, • Longdo wins trophy for pu.jitsu Jim Longdo of Wingham was one of six Canadians who traveled to Jackson- ville, tt'lorida, earlier this month to compete in the North American Jiu-Jitsu Team Tournament. • Mr. , Longdo and the Canadian team did very well. in the overall standings. The team won seven out of eight fights and Mr. Longdo won all three of his own three- minute fights to capture a trophy. Next month Mr. Longdo will attempt to get his black belt in jiu-jitsu. The Canadian team will journey to Great Britain to compete in the world championship and Mr. ;Longdo will very likely be selected as a competitor on the national team. SPICE DRIVE—Rick Whitely, Grade 6 teacher at the Wingham Public School, said his students had a very successful drive selling spices again this year. Mr. Whitely added that he and the students will travel to Standish, Michigan, again this year with profits from the sales, if they get approval from the proper sources.
