Last week was a quiet one
at the Wingham Golf and
Curling Club. The Sunday
Sinners' tournament was
held Sunday, although at-
tendance was down as a
result of the Hoedown
festivities the night before.
Thirty-five golfers made it
around the course and the
winner was Mike Shepperd
with a score of -39. Q
Last Tuesday a new ladies'
clinic began, with 12 women
from the Wingham and
Listowel areas taking part. 4
-a membership discount now is
being offered to ladies in-
terested in joining the club

Bavarian Night and open to
anyone who wants to play
nine holes of golf, beginning
at 5:30 p.m., and then enjoy a
Bavarian -style dinner and
social gathering. Judging
from the results of Italian
Night, which was held at the
end of June, this event is also
guaranteed of being a suc-
cess.
Oldtimers'
teams to meet
in Brussels
Anyone who has follovyed
baseball in the Morris area
in the past, and even those
who haven't, should enjoy
the oldtimers baseball
games scheduled for Sunday
afternoon.
The games are being held
as part of the 125th an-
niversary celebrations of
Morris Township and are to
be played at the ball park in
Brussels.
The action will commence
at 2 p.m. when the Bluevale
Oldtimers take on
Jamestown. Fans can expect
to. see players such as Keith

MacFarlane,,., for •Bluevale
and Lloyd Wheeler, and Don
Grey for.Jamestown.
At 3 p.m. a real grudge
match will take . place when
Stone School meets the
Belgrave Oldtimers. Players

lead the attack for Stone
School, while fans can expect
to see Jack and Murray
Shiell,and Harry Brydges out
for the Belgrave squad.
Stone School and Belgrave
played to a tie last year, and
both teams are looking to
break that tie on Sunday. ,

The $300 first prize in the
July 21 draw of the Tees -
water Agri -Lotto went to Ev
Fisher and Bob Purdy of

at the Mildmay tourney
On Saturday in the
Mildmay , tournament the
Wroxeter Royals dropped a
4-0 decision to Teeswater and
„ suffered a 1-0 loss to Clifford.
In the Teeswater game
there was -no score until the
bottom of the seventh inning
when Johnston hit a grand
slam homer ha win the game
for Teeswater..
• The- Royals then played
Clifford and Reg Walls
pitched an outstanding game
allowing only one hit. Paul
Cerson of the°Howick Juniors
pitched.a goodgame for the
Royals allowing only four
hits.
On friday night in the
Mildmay tournament Ron
Riley pitched the Royals to -a
5-0' shutout of Neustadt. It
was a close; 1-0 game until
the sixth inning when the
Royals`'Scefed four times to
win easily,MkRoYals. only
managed twn , slits them-
selves'by Smith and Gibson.
The Royals league winning
streak ended at 11 games as
the Clifford Four Aces beat
the Royals by a score of 7-3 in
Wroxeter last Thursday
night.
Leading the way for
Clifford was Reg Walls, who
pitched a four hitter as well
as getting two hits himself.
The top hitter for Clifford
was Randy Seip, who had
three hits and drove in three
runs.
Ron Riley had a home run
for the Royals in a losing
cause. It was the last home
game for the Royals in the
schedule as they go on the
road for the next four games.
In the OASA division the
Royals will play Shake-
speare, while in the WOAA
playoffs they'll meet St.
Marys with the. times and
dates undetermined as yet.
First annual Black Sheep

GORRIE — The first an-
nual Gorrie Black Sheep
slow -pitch tournament was
held last weekend in the
Gorrie park. Sixteen teams
took part: Belmore, Blue -
vale, Diesel Car Diner,
Molesworth, Gorrie, Lake -
let, Formosa, Clifford, Tees -
water, Brussels, Walkerton,
Harriston, Wingham and

The "A” championship
trophy donated by Nu -look
Autobody, a division of Tol-
ton Motors in Bluevale, was
won by Drew. They defeated
the Radd Shoppe of
Walkerton by a score of 12-
10. The trophy was presented
