Graduate
nurses meet
at Lochalsh
The graduate nurses of
Wingham General Hospital
held their annual picnic at
the home of Mrs. Florence
McKenzie at Lochalsh on
July 19. A delicious
smorgasbord • was enjoyed
and the afternoon was spent
visiting and reminiscing.
There was a large at-
tendance.
Mrs. Lillian Gallaher
conducted a short business
meeting and Mrs. Eva Carr
read a report of the last
picnic. A vote of thanks was
tendered Mrs. Gallaher and
Mrs. Carr for serving', the
past two years. Mrs.
McKenzie was thanked for
her hospitality.
Mrs. McKenzie was
elected president and Mrs.
Jean McQuillin secretary for
,-1982. Mr. and Mrs. Clarence
Green of Exeter invited the
• group to their horrid for the
1982 picnic.

wedding anniversary was
observed Sunday, July 12,
with a family dinner at Knox
United Church, Clifford. The
soloist, Mrs. Bev Strucke of
Hanover, had been the
soloist at the wedding 25
years ago. An Open House
for relatives, friends and
.neighbors was held at the
home of their son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Douglas.
Mrs. Mabel Murray spent
the past week with Mrs.
Elmer Giles, Arkona.
Stephen and Brian Giles of
Don Mills spent the week
with their cousin, Neil

day evening at the Wingham Armouries. Bob and Peggy Pike of Minnie Street
loaded up their clan and made it down to the carnival with even the babies, Jen-

blue mutt's. Blooms of pink
and blue surrounded the
candelabra and ten white
tapers flickered under glass
chimney globes. Hap
Swatridge was organist and
accompanied Mrs. Debbie
Inglis as she sang "Love
Story", "If" and "Walk
Hand M Hand".
The bride entered the
church with her father who
gave her in marriage. marriage. She
chose a white floor -length
chiffon gown with a train. It,
featured spaghetti straps
and a lace bodice covered by
a sheer white overblouse.
She wore an elbow -length
silk veil trimmed with im-
ported daisy lace and
carried an arrangement of
pink roses and white
stephanotis.
Matron of honor was Susan
Wadsworth of London and
bridesmaids were Tracey
Chalmers WMS
and Ladies' Aid

Presbyterian Womens'
Missionary Society held its
•July meeting last Wed-
nesday at the home of Mrs:
Victor . Emerson with Mrs.
Bill Purdon giving the call
worship and repeating the
purpose of the WMS. All the
ladies sang a hymn ac-
companied by organist Mrs.
Don Roth. •
• Mrs, Purdon gave the
meditation theme and Mrs,
Wesley Tiffin gave the
icripture verses and closed
with prayer. • Mrs. Alan
Falconer led in prayer and
Mrs. Bill Rintoul gave a
reading.
Mrs. Ross presented the
topic: nature as a mirror of
God.
Readings were given by
Mrs. V. Emerson and Mrs.
Tiffin. The roll call was
answered by all with the
name of a favorite hymn.
The secretary, Mrs.
Purdon, 'read the minutes
and Mrs. Falconer gave the
financial statement.. Mrs.
Roely DeBoer gave the Of-
fering prayer.
Mrs. Ross led in prayer
and reading was • given by
Mrs. Emerson. The closing
prayer was given by Mrs.
Purdon. •
The Ladies Aid meeting
was then held. A discussion
followed concerning plans
for the craft festival to be
held in Lutknow at the end of
July and the first of August.
The collection was
received and closed with the
Lord's Prayer. Mrs.
Falconer gave the courtesy
report.

gowns of powder blue
French interlock polyester,.
The tulip skirts had ivory.
lace flounces and the halter -
topped bodices were trim
med with similar lace. Capes

flowers completed their att-
ire.
Carolynne • Netterfield
wore a dress of pale blue
flowered cotton styled with
puffed sleeves and ruffled
hemline. She •served as
junior bridesmaid and also
carried one of the wedcling
bands while her brother,:
Robin Isletterfield, carried
the other ring.

BELGRAVE — Over 100
relatives gathered at the
Belgrave Community Centre
on Sunday, July 19, for the
ninth Cook reunion.
Everyone enjoyed the
games and races arranged
by Mr. and Mrs. Cameron
Cook and Mr. and Mrs.
Murray Black of Belgrave.
Thanks go to them and the
lunch committee, Mr. and
Mrs. Harold Cook and Mr.
and Mrs. Manse] Cook of
Blyth, for their help.

THE WINGHAM LADIES' FASTBALL team entered a float de-
picting a Western saloon, complete with dancing girls and cow-
pokes. Saturday's warm weather drew out the crowds to watch the
parad, which included more than 30 floats, horses and riders and
two bands.
