Monday evening the director of .nursing, Sue Robbilils, -played many favorite Songs on the piano and everyone enjoyed singing along - On Tuesday evening the staff held a family talent night. Rene Fischer per- formed a lively tap dance. Melinda Bates played a PARS- ALLAH GRIFFITH r_, Wroxeter The families of Bruno Dewald and Gilbert Worner are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Helmut Worner. Jamie Houston, Paisley, is visiting his father, Jaynes Houston. SONYA VERBEEK Sonya, daughter of Mrs. Antonie Verbeek of RR 2, Teeswater, graduated from the dental assistant program at Fanshawe College, London. Grad- uation ceremonies were held at the college June 29. Sonya has accepted a position with Dr. G. Krik- orian in Guelph. - i1111111I11111111111111U1111111111U111111111111111 lightful piano tune and Shannon, Cathy, Melinda and their mother, Margie Bates, sang for the residents. A parade of brides dressed in various period costumes from the 1930's to the 1980's brought back memories for everyone. A mock wedding and a hilariqus staff skit brought the show to a laugh - filled close. On Wednesday afternoon Bill Bates showed his slides of the breathtaking and rugged beauty of Arizona and Colorado. Thursday afternoon the Wingham United Church Women were on hand to lead the residents in some rhythm band fun. , Friday evening was a special occasion as Earl and Martha Heywood enter- tained the residents with some music and a fascin- ating display of magic. On Saturday afternoon the annual open house was held. Elizabeth Wilkins enter- tained everyone with a de- lightful selection of piano music, A lavish display of crafts, made by the residents, sold well. The delicious refreshments, which were served to both residents and guests, were donated by some of the staff. A draw fora "Paddington Bear", donated by Margie Bates, and a heart guessing contest raised $41.60 for the Ontario Heart Foundation. �- On July 14, many residents from Brookhaven and Callander nursing homes went on a bus trip to Bayfield where they were treated royally by Len Bannister, owner of the Paul Bunyon Camp. Upon arrival, the residents were served cold drinks and a delicious lunch. Then Mr. Bannister hosted a number of bingo games which everyone ejoyed. Some' residents spent the remainder of the afternoon socializing while others walked downto the lake. Many thanks to all the staff and volunteers for their assistance and a special thanks to Mr. Bannister for his kindness. We are sorry to report that Wilford Clipperton had to be taken to the Wingham Hospital on Saturday. He is wished a -very speedy recovery from ,,a11 of his neighbors. Mr. and Mrs. Frances Coleman accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Jim Coleman, Kevin and Karen of Seaforth, called on Friday on Mr. and Mrs. Victor Emerson of Whitechurch. Mr. and Mrs. Russell Chapman, Mildred McClenaghan and John McKinnon visited on Sunday with Rev. and Mrs. Clarence McClenaghan at their cot- tage a t Sauble Beach. Mr. and Mrs. WalterElligt and Karen visited on Sunday with her aunt, Mrs. Cliff Aitchison, at the Cambridge- Hespler Senior Citizens Home. Jim Ward of Seaforth called on Mrs. Clara Cleghorn of Wingham on Sunday and brought her along to call on Mrs. Cassie Mowbray. Jim was a resident of the area in his early days. Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Milligan spent Saturday in Kitchener with Mrs. Clara Irwin. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Boonstra and family of Sarnia were Sunday visitors with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Uuldriks. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moore of Wroxeter were Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Walter Moore. Richard Moore intends to accompany Mr. and Mrs. Bill Moore to . the west in the near futut<e. The Belgrave Women's Institute are sponsoring a bus to the Milton Agricultural Museum on August 5 and they have some seats left. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Oberholtzer, Jeffery and Julie of Waterloo, and Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Campbell and Heather of Kitchener spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Rintoul. Mr. and Mrs. Irwin McClenaghan of St. Thomas returned his mother, Mary McClenaghan, to her home after a two-week stay. Brian Hinton' attended the Listowel Faire with his Hereford cattle on Saturday and received several prizes. Mrs. Tom Vannurs and Mrs. Paul Laidlaw, Michelle and Jason of London, arrived on Monday to visit with Mr. and Mrs: Elroy Laidlaw and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Elliot. Baby bazaar a big success The Baby Bazaar held in Wingham Saturday by, the' La Leche League of Huron County was a big sucgesS, organizers report. Lots of people, including mothers, fathers, children and babies, attended, New and used baby clothes from,infancy to size 6 were displayed for sale on tables and racks and proved very popular. There was a wide variety 'in the toy section, and most of the toys had beensold by the end of the day. Baby furniture, such as walkers and playpens, also was a bigseller. A bake table provided snacks of homemade cookies, muffins and herb buns for the hungry families. A donated crib quilt; ap- pliqued with ducks and hand - quilted,_ was won in a draw by Mrs. Jeanette Harris of Blyth. Proceeds from the baby bazaar will be used to provide information on breastfeeding to mothers in the area, through donations of books to local organizations, libraries, doctors' offices and hospitals. -- ANSLEY SIMPSON AND Mary and wagon parade on Friday evening. A LARGE GROUP OF CHILDREN was captivated by the magic show at "Kidsworld" held last Saturday afternoon at the Wingham Armouries.
