Cattle auction attracts
buyers to Bodmin Farms
The third Bodmin cattle
auction was held at the
Bodmin fern) tiro miles east
of Belgrave lett' Tuesday
with the auctign 'starting at 7
p.m.
The sale cattle were on
display all day and in the
afternoon Ross and Anne
Procter gave a quarter -
horse cattle' cutting
demonstration on Buck and
Rawhide.
Two hundred and forty-
eight bull steaks were served
at a barbeque held in the late
afternoon and the ladies of
the Belgrave United Church
sold refreshments during the
auCtion.
Jim Medd and his group
entertained the crowd during
the barbeque with country
music and Kim Craig
pleased everyone with her
stepdancing.
A carcass of beef was
auctioned to the highest\„.
bidder, with cutting, freezing
and wrapping to be done by
Green's Abbatoir in
Wingham.
Six Bodmin herd bulls
were piped up the lane by
pipers Charles and Elizabeth
Procter, Peter Malcolm and
drummer Charlie Malcom,
while Ross Procter ex-
plained the Bodmin beef
breeding program.
Sixty-eight head of
shorthorns and crossbreds
Were auctioned with cattle
sold to buyers from
Saskatchewan, Manitoba
and Prince Edward Island as
well as many local cat-
tlemen.
The sale average was
$839.04 on the 68 head sold.
!Organizers were generally
pleased with the outcome of
the sale even though the
cattle market is not at its
beat and money is' rather
tight in buying circles.
CATTLE BUYERS from as far away as Saskatchewan and Prince Edward
Island attended' the cattle auction at Bodmin, Farms, east of Belgrave, last Tues-
day evening. SIXty-eight head of cattle were offered for sale and the average price
was 5834.04. A barbecue was held In the afternoon and entertainment was pro-
vided.

township's 125th anniversary
celebrations a parade is
being planned to travel from
the old arena in Pordwich,
commencing at 12 noon

Community Centre.
And what a parade.
Parade chairman John E.
Brown of Gerrie reports he
has already lined up four
bands, a. steam calliope, .a
number of antique cars and a
penny farthing bicycle.
"We've already spent
$3200 on the parade,”' Mr.
Brown reported at a meeting
of anniversary comnfittee
chairmen held here July 16.t
