Miss Yvonne McPherson read scripture from Paul's first letter to the Corinthians, chapter 12, ,and Mrs. Ken •Wood led in prayer. 'Mrs, Barry Passmore accompanied the women for the singing of two hymns. Mrs. George Underwood introduced Miss Elizabeth Kaufman' who played two p•ano solos. Mrs. Gordon Engel speaks to Institute PoRDWICH — Mrs. Gordon Engel of Brussels spoke to the Women's Insti- tute on "Farm Histories and House Logs". Question- naires were handed out to be filled in by those ' present which included an ex- planation as to when the 'farm was purchased and from whom. The ladies were also asked to state if it is a century farm and to include 'a picture if possible so that information may be compiled -fo'r•, tlie' Tweedsmuir book to be kept as a permanent record. On the subject ,of house logs, Mrs. Engel . presented another questionnaire which asked. -for information 'about the erection.of the house, the year built, the renovations (made, the .landscaping, a picture if possible and any other information that could be. kept somewhere in the home for future owners, so they can keep a permanent record. Mrs. Engel was thanked, 'lunch was served by the hostesses and the business portion was conducted with the president, Mrs. T. Klaas- sen, in the chair. • The devotions were taken 'by Mrs. J. Robinson, followed by a prayer and a poem entitled, "If Jesus Came to Your Place". The motto was given by Mrs, J. Freeman. She also gave information on parts of Canada and Ontario with their points of interest also, on museums and where located: She had on display mementos of the past, pic- tures of . years ago, plus scenes and write-ups. Come Alive Club holds meeting GORRIE — The Senior Citizens "Come Alive Club" held its June meeting on Tuesday, June 16 at 8 p.m. The meeting.opened with "0 Canada" and the president, Robert Gibson, conducted the business. Following • Mr. Gibson's report, Peter Jorrissen favored the group with harmonica selections from his native land Holland. Inst, Whitechurch — On we'd- nesday, June 17, the Women's Institute sponsored a bus trip when 41 people enjoyed a visit to Hamilton. The group's first stop was`at Guelph for coffee. They then visited the Botanical Gar- dens at *mil* where -they hadlunch. After lunch, .the group toured Dundurn Castle, built in 1835 by the. late Sir Allan MacNab, prime Minister of the United Provinces of Canada. Following a visit to Jackson Mall in downtown' Hamilton, the group had dinner. On the way. home they called at Spring Gar- dens to see the flowers. The irises'were beginning to fade but the peonies Were in full bloom. • The group arrived home. about 10 p.m. with all agreeing they hada very good day. The weather was ideal for touring.
