Certain •insulation com-
panies and installers are

program administrator.
Arnie Rose, CHIP coordi-
nator for Ontario said
homeowners .allegedly are
being told they can get CHIP
rebates on insulation for
homes constructed after
1961.
Houses built after 1961
currently are not eligible to
receive the rebates and
homeowners are cautioned
to be wary of any insulation

mediate outlying areas, he
said.
"The - companies are
promoting CHIP benefits in
areas which are not yet
eligible," Mr. Rose said,
"The consumer, if unsure of
what he's been told, should
check out the details' with
CHIP before proceeding with
any transaction."
In keeping' with' CHIP's
mandate, the program
works in stages. The current
stage in Ontario includes
those dwellings built before, b
but only before 1961. a

Estimates for the Ministry
of the Solicitor General were
concluded. :last Wednesday..
The'dise ..loft with..ministry -
'officials
Aid the . solicitor
general himself, centred on
some wide-ranging: changes,
including, the consolidation
of fire safely under the fire
marsball's office, , the pro=
vision for protective vests
for the police, and a full re-
port on the operations of the
coroner's'nfffer.
The question of the provin-
cial government's funding of
police forces was also raised
with the solicitor general,
and in particular I asked Mr.
McMurtry .to defend the cur-
rent government practice of
funding non -regional . police
forces at $12 per capita and
regional forces at $17 per
capita. I suggested that this
type of funding is unfair to
non -regional municipalities.
The solicitor general assured
the justice committee he was
unhappy with the difference
in funding, but he also indi-
cated that his concern was
alleviated somewhat by the
fact that other provincial
grants offset any
discrepancy between
regional versus non -regional
funding.
ASTRA-RE-MOR
Opposition members of the
justice committee have
made a number of attempts
Mito raise the matter con-
cerning Astra—Re-Mor. We
pressed the Ministry of the
Solicitor General for details,
ut due to time constraints
nd restrictions imposed by
overnment members,
Astra—Re-Mor was not dis-
ussed at all . by. Mr.
McMurtry. .
