and fust board chairman of
the Town and Country

down as chief officer.
New officers were elected
at the first meeting of the
new board of directors at
Wingham, April 22.
Bev Brown of Bluevale is
the new chairman of the
board. Mrs. Gwyn Whilsmith
of St. Joseph's and Rev.
Terry Trites of Bluevale are
vice-chairmen, and Mrs.
Lois Hodgert is secretary.
Committee chairmen are:
fund-raising, Mrs. Gwyn
Whilsmith; policy, bylaws
and personnel, Paul Steckle;

Rev. Trites; annual meeting,
Mrs. Ruth Linton; and public
relations, Mrs. Pauline Atton
and Mrs. Grace Fraser.
The board continues to be
concerned about the can-
cellation of the homemaking
course by Canada Man-
power.
"Without a course to train
more homemakers this year,
it will be difficult to have the
required number of home-
makers we will need for
chronic home care," Jean
Young, exective director,
explained.
"We are hopeful that
women who are interested in
taking this course will con-
tact their ' local Manpower
Office or write to Murray
Cardiff, MP in Ottawa, to
express their concern."
• Town and Country Home-
makers is incorporated as a
private non -Profit charitable
organization founded in 1978
by Jean Young and Betty
Cardno. In 1980 it employed
80 homemakers and served
alomst 1,500 clients in Huron
County.
The owner of the premises
occupied by the agency has
received an offer to pur-
chase, and unless the agency
can raise funds for a down
payment within the next two
weeks, new office space will
have to be found.
Anyone wishing to donate
towards this expense can

One.of.the highlights of the
meeting was an address by
Rev. Glen Davis, who has
spent 15 years in Japan and
who is presently secretary
for Mission Education, a
board of World Mission in
Toronto.
His topic•was the theme of .-
,the
,the conference, 'Living On
the Growing Edge', placing
his stress on the word
'Growing'. Growth means to
be prepared and willing for
change. Growth ,means
taking advantage of op-
portunities. It also quite fre-
quently means pain and
suffering. Growth suggests a
need for leadership and
training and also means the
ability to learn and listen
from others. What an ex-
citing time for all Christians
and especially WMS
members to be living on the
growing edge!
Rev. Davis was introduced
by Mrs. Weldon and thanked
by Mrs. •Ross Cumngs of
