If that line were to be
abandoned and the factory
had to unload and truck its
lumber from the CN team
track on Josephine Street, he
said, the additional cost
probably would lead the
parent company, Premium
Forest Products Ltd., to
close the plant.
He said the company has
calculated the change would
add more than $70,000 a year
to its costs. This is the first
time in six years the plant
will yield a profit, he added,
and the additional costs
would drive it back into the
red.
A determined effort to
develop an export market for
doors is just beginning to pay
off, Mr. English reported,
noting he doesn't remember
another (January when the
plant was operating "full
steam ahead" with-. a full
complement of more than

Mr. Gera said he under-

concern over possible loss of
the CP rail link, and
promised this will be a factor
tai4=negotiations with . the
railroads. He added that if
United Co-operatives of
Ontario goes ahead with
plans to add a grain elevator
and lumber yard at its new
mill north of Winghant, this
would provide an additional
reason,.to keep the line open.
"If the UCO would create a
further demand on the CP
line, I can imagine that even
the railways would take a
different position.
Bill Cummings, manager
of the new feed mill, con-
firmed that the UCO still is
looking toward future ex-
pansion and having a rail
