s by Brian Tenpas and
Dave, 'effer in a somewhat
disheartening loss for the
Ironmen.. The loss almost
certainly, knocks them out of
contention for a first -place
finish. In fact it will tighten
the race for second with the
rejuvenated Port Elgin
Bears.
The Green Machine
opened up a 4-1 first period
lead then cruised to a 7-2
final. Greg McCabe scored
at 5:36 as the Fergus club
moved in with a three -on -
two. Mike Harper pulled the
left defenceman into the slot
area as he carried the puck
over the line then passed to
the open man on his left side.
McCabe snapped a quick
shot to the upper portion of
the net.
Paul Martin made it 2-0 on
a power play when he drilled
a 30 foot shot past Don
Higgins. At 14:43 Norm
Wolfe connected to increase
the lead when his low shot
from the point eluded Don
who may have been screened
on the shot.
BrianiTenpas jumped on a
Mark Frayne rebound and
beat Dan Rooney, who con-
tinually thwarted the Iron -
men forwards throughout
the night. With less than two
minutes remaining in the
period the Ironmen defence
was caught napping as Dale
Morrison slipped in between
the rear guard to put the
Green Machine into a com-
fortable 4-1 lead.
In the middle frame the
Ironmen were held scoreless
