Mrs: Johnston opened the
meeting with 'a call to
worship followed by the
members joining in hymns
illustrating the theme. Mrs.
Ron Livermore and Mrs.
Jack Wilson added solos.
The leaders reminded the
members that the doors of
the church are always open..
There problems are solved,
there is comfort in prayer,
the Word of God is heard and
one finds Christian
fellowship. The doors also
open outward so Christians
can share what they have
learned.
The question was then
asked, "What is Christianity
in the home, business and
society and what is the job of
the church?" They con-
cluded that the mission of the
church is `to bring divine
truth to all and spread love
among men'. The worship
service closed with prayer
by Mrs. Johnston.
A moment's silence was
observed in memory of Mrs.
James Warrell who passed
away this month. Rev. T, H.
Fleetham paid tribute to
Mrs. Warrell.
Mrs, Doig opened the
program portion of the
meeting by telling where the
church had its beginnings,
when Jesus chose His
disciples and gave them a
training course to carry on.
After His crucifixion and
resurrection, Pentecost
marked the beginning of the
church and from the early
Roman church, the
traditional church branched
out into different
denominations.
Mrs. Doig stressed that
church members must feel a
sense of involvement and
responsibility. She told of the
growth of the Unit d-Churh _
stressing that without
people, the c eh' cannot
grow.

The task of the church is to
call people to worship God,
to spread the gospel,
minister to the needy and
strive for unity in all places.
Short readings by Mrs.
Clarkson, Mrs. Cooper . and
Mrs. Wilson emphasized that
when Christians become
members of a church, they
make solemn vows but over
the years they slip badly.
