rally for senior citizens of
Zone 8 was held Wednesday
of last week in'Dashwood
Coinmunity Centre. There
was a capacity crowd,
representing 'clubs m the
Zone, including . Dashwgod,
Zurich; Exeter; Seaforth,
Brussels, Clinton, C�oderIch
and Grand Bend. I ::

One of the highlights of the
program was films shown by
Jim Hoffman of Hoffman
Ambulance Service, Dash-
wood. Mr.'Hoffman is fully
qualified to instruct and give
first aid in cases of ac-
cidents; such as bleeding,
choking, shock and other
injuries. Children and adults
who have seen these slides
and received his information
know what to do and can be
the means of saving a life, as
help M many cases must be
given within the first five
minutes \in order to save that
life.
These films, along with a
qualified first-aid instructor,
are available to schools and
public gatherings and people
are urged to take advantage
of this instruction.
Guest speaker in the af-
ternoon, Terry Crabs of the
Ministry of Natural
Resources, showed a film on
conditions, plant, animal and
bird life in Pinery:Provincial
Park. These pictures, ac-

CWL BAZAAR --Mary Hehn was among the ladles serving customers at the pop-
ular bake sale and bazaar held by the Catholic Women's League Saturday after-
noon.
Wingham couple
wed 45 years
Gibbons of Alice Street,
Wingham, Were honored by
their family on the occasion
Of their 45th ,wedding an-
niverSary when a family
dinner was held at the Turn -
berry Dining Lounge on
Sunday.
Mrs. Gibbons is the former
Patricia Frances Lt-,estnunci,
daughter of the late Mr. and
Mrs. John Desmond of the
12th concession of Greenock
Township. Mr. Gibbons is a
ion of the late Mr. and Mrs.
Patrick Gibbons of the 10th
concession , of East, Wawa -
nosh Township.
They were married in
Mary Immaculate Churth,
Chepstow, on October 26,
1935, by the late Rev. John T.
Gibbons. Following their
marriage, they resided on
Mr, Gibbons' farrn in Etta
Wawanosh. In 1941 they
moved to Winghant where he
was employed by Dominitm
Automobile Association until
be retired in 1971.
Mr. and Mrs. Gibbons
have one son, -Frank of
London; and three daugh-
ters, Mary, Mrs. Warren
Weber of Stratford, Sheila,
Mrs. Robert Cuillerier, Ailsa
Craig, and Ruth, Mrs. Paul
Beckberger, London. They
have eigiai granddaughters
and five grandsons. Their
two eldest granddaughters,
Vicki and Francine Gibbons,
Who are on the nursing staffs
of University Hospital,
Edmonton, and St. Boniface
Hospital, Winnipeg, were
unable to attend.
Mr. and Mrs. Gibbons
were the recipients of many
congratulatory messages,
including those from Prime
Minister Trudeau, Leader of
the Opposition Joe Clark,
Bill Davis, Premier of On-
tario, and the Papal blessing
from Pope John paul II.
Members learn the
facts of La Leche
The La Leche League in
Belgrave held its second
meeting in the series at the
home of Mrs. Leslie Martin,
Wingham, with women at-
iending from ,Wingham, Bel -
and Paisley.
Barbara Kerr welcomed
the mothers and babies and
asked for introductions and a
fact or fiction about the LLL.
Many facets of LLL were
brought out, some serious
and some humerous, but the
most important funcion of
LLL was mentioned as pro-
viding information and
encouragement to nursing
Personal experiences con-
cerning breastfeeding were
related in order to give help-
ful hints for mothers and
babies learning to breast-
feed. Difficulties which may
be encountered while nurs-
ing were described. It was
emphasized that these dif-
ficnities could be prevented
by proper management, and
tf encountered, could be
overcome with advice from
the Professional Advisory
Board of LLL. The mothers
Were made aware of the re-
commendations made by the
Canadian Pediatric Society
on family centered prenatal
A verbal picture was
drawn of a mother giving ,
birth and becoming a nur-
sing mother in an ideal
situation. Questions were
then invited.
Following the discussion,
Liliane Nolan introduced two
new books to the library. A
social hour then followed,
with 0refreshments.
