The game, which ended with a Wingham win, was the first in a best -of -three series for the grand championship. 3 -act comedy, chosen for fall production The Wingham Town Players have chosen a three - act comedy as their fall production. 'Inside Lester' by Fred Carmichael com- bines humor and mystery, explained Sandra Lee, producer -director. She, said that Lester, played by Dale Edgar, inadvertently swallows a diamond and his "valuable stomach" is kidnapped together with his two secretaries, portrayed by Sheila Stapleton and Lizzann Morrison. The two "crooks", Louie and Beck, are played by Jqe Sanders of Blyth and Francis Mahe. Their employer, Flemming, is portrayed by Rick Rathburn. Other members of the cast are Diane Thynne as Pembina Gordley-Smith; Joan Middleton as Casa, Flemming's girlfrientita Crump, Josephine Huxley; and Mauvourneen Shields as an understudy for Mrs; Huxley. Mauvourneen Shields also the assistant produ and assistant director. Miss Lee explained the group is well into rehearsals and the play is scheduled for Nov. 13, 14 and 15, at the Town Hall at 8:30 p.m. She said rehearsals are going fairly smoothly, however the players could use some help for lighting, advertising and sound af- fects. Furniture needed for the stage setting are: a portable bar and two liar stools, two wicker chairs, an imitation fire place, a small leather sofa or love seat and a butterfly chair. If anyone wishes to lend a hand for this production, or donate props, please contact Miss Lee after 4 p.m. at 357- 1383 or Diane Thynne at 357- 3077. Recreation Report BY RENNIE ALEXANDER Rec. Director Registration for all fall programs was Tuesday, Sept. 30, but if you have not yet registered please contact the recreation office at 357- 1208. Please note that judo and children's theatre have been cancelled due to the \ lack of instructors.. The Wingham Recreation Department has prime ice time available for rent at the Lockridge Memorial Arena. This time could be available for family skating, staff socials, recreation hockey, broomball etc. If you are TOO LATE -Larry Lane, pitcher for the Wingham slow pitch team, raced to third base in en effort to tag this runner from New Hamburg during the first game of the series last Thursday night in Wingham. Despite his speed, Lane was too late as the runner managed to silae his way to tnira. YOU'RE OUT -This New Hamburg runner lust wasn't fast enough as Wingham's first baseman, Gerry Edwards, caught the ball In time to put the runner out. Local 'fan wins color TV set A Wingham woman won a color television set courtesy of the Toronto Blue.. Jays baseball team last weekend. Mrs. Bruce Skinn was among 50 winners as the Biu: Jays gave away $140,000 worth of cars and TV sets on Fan Appreciation Day Sunday. Following the game 50 ticket numbers were drawn and each person was given a set of keys, 25 of which fit the 25 new Honda cars being given away. Those whose keys didn't fit one of the cars got a color TV set as a consolation prize. Mrs. Skinn was among a group of about 30 local residents who attended the baseball game between the Blue Jays and the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Happy Gang Seniors hold euchre The Wingham Senior's Happy Gang sponsored a progressive euchre on Fri- day afternoon, Thirteen tables of players participated and for some at least, 13 was not unlucky. The high lady was Peg Barrett and the high man was Gordon Walker. Most tricks taken with the nine of clubs winners were Margaret Foxton and Fred Porter. Other prizes were :.D low lady, Margaret Robertson, and Ethel Holmes, who played as a man, won the other prize.
