GOING, GOING ... GONE!—Mike Miller loses his grip and plunges into the mill- pond in the greased pole contest at the Bluevale Funfest last Saturday afternoon. Shortly afterward another youngster managed to reach the envelope fastened to the end of the pole and came back with a SS bill. Mike, of Burlington, Is the grand- son of Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Rosart of Bluevale. MARSHMALLOW STUFFING—Jeff Winger of Brantford, up visiting, friends for the weekend, managed to fit four marshmallows into his mouth but failed on. a fifth one in the marshmallow stuffing contest at the Bluevale Funfest.. His performance left him far short of the record of one anonymous woman who man- . aged eight! 'MRS. JOE WALKER -2luevale Rev. and Mrs. Stewart MacTavish of Saskatoon visited last week with Mr. and Mrs. Alex MacTavisi . Theyalso visited, with Mr: and Mrs. Harold Grant, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Willitts, Mr. and Mrs. Bob MacTavish and Mr. and Mrs. Cameron MacTavish. Doris Hoy and Ron Irwin of Owen Sound spent the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Wes Paulin and attended the Funfest weekend. Ron piped for the supper line and also provided music at intervals during the afternoon around the village. Mr. and Mrs. Ken Henry and family of; Parry; Sid were weekend visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Keith Moffatt and family and enjoyed Funfest. Mr. and Mrs. Bob MacTavish, Tim and Ken were ' Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Alex MacTavish. Nat. plowing championships This year the Province of Quebec will be the host of the national plowing cham- pionship Sept. 10-13. Regrouped under the name SOL-O-RAMA 1930, the national and provincial plowing ehampionthips, in addition to beinga high-class competition, will have the largest soil equipment exhibition in the province. AS in past years there will be two lasses of visitors at the provincial level, novices and advanced, and inter- collegiate classes, utility, junior and senior. At the national level Ontario, British Columbia, Alberta, New Branswiek=and Prince Edward Island in addition to the host province have registered two par- ticipants each. For the first titne in the history of the Canadian plowing champions14 yob representatives from all the provinces will eompete for the title of junior Ceogellan Champion. Seventy-five acres, 25 of which will be deist aside for the exhibitiif of new machinery as well as for ladies' and consumers' programs, has been set aside for the competition.
