A funeral service for Kevin
Smith of Grand Cache, Alta.,
and formerly of Listowel was
held on Friday, July 18, at
the Robert Trench Funeral
Home, Listowel at 10:30 a.m.
Major James Smith and
Captain George King of-
ficiated at the service.
Mr. Smith, 21, died in
Edmonton, Alta., on July 15.
He was born on Feb. 26,
1959 in Barrie, a son of
Wilbert Smith and his wife,
the former Myrtle Barlow.
Kevin was a member of
the Salvation Army.
Besides his parents, he is
survived by one sister, Mrs.
John (Darlene) Fyrie of
Orangeville; one brother,
Brian and a„ sister-in-law,
Lynn Smith of Kamloops, B.
C.; also survived by one
nephew, and several aunts
and uncles and one maternal
grandmother, Mrs. Vernon
Barlow of Gorrie.
Interment was in Gorrie
Cemetery.
The pallbearers were
Jerry Smith, Jim Harvey,
David Harvey, Robert
Hyman, Kelly Hargest and
Leslie Kirk.
Resident of
Howick dies
at home
Funeral service was held
at the A. Millard George
Funeral Home, London, for
Peter Gerkis of RR 2, Gorrie.
Mr. Gerkis was born in
Latvia on February 26, 1927,
and came to Canada as a
young man. He died at his
residence in Howick
Township. He was
predeceased by his mother
in January, 1976. He was
employed by Campbell Soup
Listowel Ltd.
The service was conducted
by Rev. J. Praulins of the
Latvian Letheran Church
with interment in Woodlawn
Cemetery, London.
Several friends and neigh-
bors from this area attended
the funeral service held July
12 at 11 a.m.

International Shorthorn Show came from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskat-
chewan, Manitoba, Quebec and the Maritime Provinces In Canada" as well as a
strong entry of Shorthorns from USA and Britain. The sire of Bodmin Miss
Colonel Is the herd sire of John A. Curries new Shorthorn herd at RR 3, Wingham.

BELGRAVE — Over 400
people attended the Bodmin
Shorthorn sale held at the
farm on the 4th concession of
Morris Township last Tues-
day. Auctioneer, George
Early conducted a brisk sale
and 67 head were sold at an
average price of $808. The
top price of $1,250 was paid
by Kenneth Alton of Luck -
now for a yearling heifer,
with Dave Eadie of RR 5,
Lucknow, paying $1,100 for
the highest selling bull.

showcase herd in Ottawa.
The majority of the cattle
sold to Ontario buyers, but
several. Bodmin cattle found
new homes in the Maritimes,
Saskatchewan, Nebraska
and the USA.
Prior to the sale a steak
barbecue was enjoyed by the
crowd assembled to inspect
the offerings.
Jim Medd of Blyth and his
group entertained the crowd
during the barbecue with
country and western music.
A party of twelve Aus-
tralian Shorthorn breeders.
attended the sale and a bus
load of beef producers from
the Ottawa area visited Bod-
min Ltd. on sale day.

reunion
BELGRAVE—The 49th
annual Procter reunion was
held on Sunday, July 13, et
the Belve Institute ,HaR
with63 signing' the register.
A social time was enjoyed
during the afternoon as well
as games and races .led' by
Maxine and Howard Zettler
and Faye and Ken Procter.
After a delicious lunch the
president, Donald Procter,
conducted a short business
meeting. Ross Procter re-
ported that during his visit to
England last year, he visited
the grave of his great grand
mother. He also requested
that family photos be sup-
plied to him for use,
especially next year for the
50th reunion.
