was divided evenly between
the society and the local
service clubs sponsoring the
run.
The Mildmay Rotary Club
received $2,1;.73, with the
Wingham Lions Club second
at 11,928.15 and the
Walkerton Rotary quo rturil

The total raised this year
was below last year's level.
This is blamed on the mild
winter which led to the
Snowarama being postponed
and held on an alternate
date.

The first 5004dlovolt trans-
mission line between the
Bruce nuclear power
complex and the 500 kV
network in central Ontario
was scheduled to go into
service last weekend.
Ontario Hydro activated
one circuit of the Bruce to
Milton transmission line
Saturday and the other on
Monday.
"At 500 kilovolts, • the
maximum in this system, the
new line will enable Hydro to
transmit low-cost bulk power
from the Bruce plant more
reliably and economically,"
said Jim Redmond, manager
of transmission.
Part of the line, between
Bruce and Belwood, north of
Orangeville, was activated

Palmerston, and the
Wingham Golden Circle
School took part in the 13th
annual fish derby on Sunday,
June 22.
After an enjoyable _after-
noon of fishing, hot de:igs and
refreshments were served.
• The largest fish caught
was a 14.5 inch rainbow trout
and the most fish caught by
one person was six.
A draw was made on a
hind quarter of beef. The
winner was Keith Mon-
tgomery, Wingham, with
second place going to Andy
McDougall, also of
Wingham. He took home a
front quarter' of beef.
Everyone was invited back
next year.

fence repair and removal of
access roads and culverts,
will continue through the
