This represents about 97 per cent of the $19,557 pledged to riders in the event. Net proceeds, following a deduction for expenses of 13,315.60, were 115,576; this was divided evenly between the society and the local service clubs sponsoring the run. The Mildmay Rotary Club received $2,1;.73, with the Wingham Lions Club second at 11,928.15 and the Walkerton Rotary quo rturil at 11,361.53. The dubs use the money for their own service work with crippled children. The major expenses for the event were 11,465.95 for gas and oil, 1758.32 for postage and 1705.72 for meals: • The total raised this year was below last year's level. This is blamed on the mild winter which led to the Snowarama being postponed and held on an alternate date. Ontario Hydro activated one circuit of the Bruce to Milton transmission line Saturday and the other on Monday. "At 500 kilovolts, • the maximum in this system, the new line will enable Hydro to transmit low-cost bulk power from the Bruce plant more reliably and economically," said Jim Redmond, manager of transmission.
