Belmore merchant dies Following a lengthy struggle with illness, Maurice Finkbeiner of Belmore passed away Thursday, June 19, at Wingham and District Hospital. He was in his 50th year. Mr. Finkbeiner came to Belmore about four years ago and he and his wife owned and operated Fink's General Store in the village. He is survived by his wife, the former Dorothy Walters; one son, Robert of Exeter; his mother, Mrs. Annie Fink- beiner of Zurich; one sister, Mrs. Frank (Leona) Nigh of Seaforth; and one brother, Howard of Zurich. Fleming Ballagh diesin 98th year A native of, Culross . Township, Fleming S. Ballagh of Wingham passed away at Huronview, Clinton, on Tuesday, June 17, in his 98th year. Born on the second con- cession east of Culross, Fleming was a son of the late Robert Ballagh and Elizabeth Hail. Mr. Ballagh was the dear father of Harvey of tondon, Myrtle of Wingham and Elmer of Belmore. Alsb surviving are seven gran- dchildren; randchildren; two brothers, Arthur of Wingham and Walter of Teeswater; and one sister, Mabelle Ballagh of Hamilton. The late Fleming Ballagh rested at the MacPherson R. Harper dies in - London Sidney R. J. Harper of RR 1, Gowanstown died on June 18 at University Hospital, London at the age of 73. He was born in Toronto on March 16, 1907 to the late William Harper and his late wife, the former Lucy Stacey, • In Toronto on May 23, 1929, he married' the former Emily Jones, They resided in the Toronto area before retiring to RR 1, Gowan- stown in 1970. He retired from the candy industry. He was a member of Gorrie United Church: Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert Harper of RR 1, Gorrie and Gary Harper of RR 1, Gowanstown; and four grandsons. He was predeceased;. by two brothers, one sister and one grandson, Scott. The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 21 at the Robert Trench Funeral Home, Listowel with Rev. J. E. Fellows officiating. Interment was 'In Elm, Centre Cemetery: - The pallbearers were William 'LeBlanc, William Harper, George Harper, Dan Harper, Rick Harper, James Jones, and James Hell. The valedictorian, chosen by the class, was' Mark Foxton. Mark briefly out- lined what he felt about leaving Sacred Heart and what he looked forward to at F. E. Madill. Tracey Fischer, Mark Foxton, and Jacqueline Rammeloo received the proficiency awards for their class. ' GRADE 5 AND 6—To finish •off the unit on India, the students presented oral seminars to the class. Rev. K. Barry Passmore officiated and interment took place in Wingham Cemetery. Pallbearers; were Don Holmes, Jim Ferrier, Evan Holmes, Brian Elmslie, Stan Orien_. and Henry Wheeler. Floral tributes were carried by Kevin McKague and Mary Holmes. Mrs. Nichol passed away Thursday, June 19, at Wingham and District Hospital. The former Laura Ellen Holmes, she was born on June 19, 1891, a daughter of the late. Jim Holmes and Margaret _Megillawee, She received her elemental* education in • Morningtan Township and attended Listowel High 'School and Hamilton Model Teachers' College. She taught in elementary schools in Howick, Wawanosh and Turnberry Townships. On February 26, 1919, she married Mr. Nichol and they farmed in Turnberry Township before retiring to Wingham.
