defensive play.by both teals

it by Don Edgar of.Winghanl
who carried the load until the
13th inning and Hanes of
Waterloo who lasted until the

Waterloo broke the score-
less tie in the 21st inning with
two runs. The BPs fought
back with one run in the
bottom of the inning, but
could not get the equalizer.
Each 'side finished the
marathon contest with eight
hits.
Wingham appeared to
have the, game won in the
bottom of the 18th inning
when Waterloo's relief
pitcher walked a batter with
the bases loaded and two out.
However the runner ap-
parently neglected to touch
first base before joining the
victory celebrations.
Waterloo protested, the
runner was called out, and
the game continued.
The BPs also had a golden
opportunity to end the game
early in the extra innings
when they had the bases
loaded with none out, but
Hanes on the mound for
Waterloo proceeded to retire
the next three batters, in-
cluding two strikeouts.
The less relegated
Wingham to the losing side,
where the team met the
defending champion Ayr
squad which had been
defeated 1-0 by Waterloo
earlier in the tournament.
The BPs defeated Ayr 3-2
behind the three -hit pitching
of Ed.Daer.
This victory put the BPs
