LOOKS GOOD—Douglas Ross, Wingham, spreads barbecue sauce on thick pork
chops before placing them on the grills. The Wingham and District Snowmobile
Club's annual pork barbecue, held Sunday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., attracted ap-
proximately 90 hungry people. Due to the cool weather, the event was moved to a
barn on Roy Pennington's farm in place of Riverside Park in Wingham.
ATHLETIC BANQUET—F. E. Madill held its athletic banquet last Tuesday eve-
ning with many students receiving special awards and recognition for athletic
achievements during the past yeart. Here Nancy Dickson and Brent Johnston,
both . Grade 13 students, were awarded the McKibbon Trophy for effort and
sportsmanship. Centre, Esther Nethery, also a Grade 13 .student, received the
Olympic. award. Miss Nethery has been involved in a number of sports activities
including track and field, volleyball and basketball.
TOP ATHLETES—Two students were chosen as top athletes in the graduating
class of F. E. Madill during..,thy school athletic banquet last Tuesday evening.

FORDWICH — A pot luck
dinner was held ,Thursday
evening in the Sunday School
rooms of Trinity Anglican
Church for the members of
the Anglican Church Women
and their families.
Following the dinner a
short service was held in the
church when Rev. Orrance
Laramie dedicated the new
rail on the chancel steps,
three new sets of hangings
for the chancel and the
painting and decorating of
the church which was done
by Peter and Hector Browne.
At the conclusion of the
service the women held a
short business meeting with
Mrs. Wellington Hargrave
presiding. Minutes of the last
meeting were read by Mrs.
Ron Shelley and roll call was
answered with a gift for St.
Monica House. Donations
were made to the Hunger
Fund and to Fair Share.
Members were reminded
of the Brownie and Guide
Three -Ms meet
in Upper Room
The Three -Ms of St. An-
drew's Presbyterian Church
met in.the Uppe{ Room with
Mrs. Ed Beard in charge.
She conducted the devotion
on the theme of gardening.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Currie
conducted the business. The
next meeting will be held at
the lakeside cottage of Mr.
and Mrs. Percy Clark.
Money -raising projects were
named and will be discussed
at the next meeting.
Two flower contests were
enjoyed and slides of flower
gardens at Compton Acres in
southern England, where
Mr. Beard visited last year,
were shown. Lunch was
served and a social time was
enjoyed.

Hanover last week. The ACW

meet in August. A committee
was named to obtain prices
for carpet to cover the steps.

GORRIE — Mrs. Norma
Behrns entertained at a
miacelhaneous shower in
honor of Miss Karen Mann,
with. 29 neighbors present.
Rhea Behrns and Carol
Anne Jackson of Harriston
conducted contests. Karen
then guessed the name of
each lady who brought a
grocery item beginning with
the first letter of her name.
Bonnie Behrns read an
address to Karen. Angela
Breckles presented the gifts
while Bev McCann pinned
the bows on an apron.
After the gifts were opened
Karen thanked everyone for
the lovely gifts.
Honored ..guests at the
shower were Karen's
grandmothers, Mrs. Tom
Lucas and Mrs. Velma
Mann. Mrs. Debbie Jacques,
Mrs. Janet Huth and Mrs.
Mac Newton helped the
hostess with the lunch.

101 and followed this with the
scripture reading of the
parable of the sower from
The Living Bible. Mrs.
Harris spoke on 'The Garden
of Our Lives' from Song of
Solomon, using five
headings: A belief in Jesus;
Service to others; Praise for
others; Purity and Com-
passion for others.
A solo, 'In, the Garden',
was sung by Mrs. Livermore
and M.S. Carswell read a
short poem, 'I paid a dime
for a package of seed'. A
hymn followed and Mrs.
Carswell closed the worship
with prayer.
Mrs. Ben Gibson presided
for the business period and
announced that the. Ford-
wich UCW..-will be respon-
sible for a singsong to open
the fall rally on October 14. A
bale of good used clothing is
to be packed in June. The
bills for redecorating the
kitchen are to be paid and
the choir was voted $50:
