Councillor Allan Harrison
Pro-life
group hears
report on
Convention
Sally Campeau, president
of the Wingham Pro -Life
group, reported on the an-
nual meeting of Alliance for
Life held at Ottawa last
month when the local group
met June 2.
She said speakers at the
convention included Dr.
Myre Sim of the University
of Ottawa, a world-renowned
psychiatrist, who spoke on
'Abortion and Psychiatry';
Dr. Reg. Bannister of Cam-
bridge who gave a critique of
the Anglican task force study
report on euthanasia and
infanticide, and Tanya
Hughson, a woman who as a
result of her own abortion
has started a new pro-life,
group called Friends for
Life.
Mrs. Campeau said she
felt the annual meeting
expressed a feeling of unity
across Canada for the cause.
Joanne Kirkland volun-
teered to be the local
member on the board of
directors for the association
of Southern Ontario pro-life
groups. ..
The Wingham group is
planning to hold a garage
and bake sale at Harry

way 86 west of Wingham

"An *VW Gar shouldn't be

his giiiaion it should be up to
the pollee, not the
businessmen, to decide
whether a safety check is
needed.
It • was suggested that
perhaps the safety check
could be set up at the MTC
yard further down the high-
way, but Mr. Harrison noted
that wouldn't have anything
to do with Wingham. Council
can only ask to have a check
