CHILDREN Sif PPORT—Susan Coghlin, president the Wingham Kinettes, presents Martin Cretier, pres- ident of the Big Brothers' Association, with a $151.26 cheque. The money was raised by a children's dance held -May -9 that was sponsored by the Kinettes. Mr.' Cretier said that about 160 children, ranging from Grade 8 and under, attended the dance at the Armour- ies. United Church Women was held at the .home of Mrs.,George Michie with 14 embers present. Mrs John G. Roberts led the worship service, opening with a hymn. Stories of the atomic bombing in Hiro- shima were read and also the life story of a Japanese 'girl, Setsuko Thurlitw•, who .sur- vived the bombing and later married a Canadian and is presently living in Toronto. After the opening exercises and words of welcome, reports were given by the president, secretary and treasurer, The nominating committee then gave -its report - an,d- the election of officers was held. The seniors were then given a short but enlightening address by Jack Lorette, the first president of the United Senior Citizens of Ontario: He mentioned the small beginnings off the now vast USCO movement. The members then divided into four workshop groups under the capable direction of Ms. Melanie McLaughlin. After an allotted period of time reports were given.
