Club
Nine members of the
Wingham Jiu-Jitsu Club took
part in the Eastern Canadian
Jiu-Jitsu Championship
Tournament last Saturday in
Kitchener.
Jim Longdo, the group's
instructor and a tournament
participant, saiethat his
group did very well against
the competition. He ex-
plained that two of his
students, Brenda Garniss
and Richard Ohm, displayed
exceptional technique.
Although Brenda, a whiffe
- belt, was matched against
competitors with more
fighting experience, she lust
her two fights by Only a
slight margin. Richard was
successful in three matches,
managing to make it to the
semi-finals. He was finally
eliminated by a participant
from Milton.
The highlight for the local
club was the success of Jim,
who fought in the brown belt
division. After four success-
ful fights he was awarded the
first -place medal.
The instructor explained
that the tournament was
good experience for his club,
which was the newest in
Kitchener. It will also
participate at a tournament
in Oakville in June and at the
North American Jiu-Jitsu
Championship Tournament
at the Canadian National
Exhibition in August. Jim
held the title from that event
two years ago.
Other clubs competing in
Kitchener travelled from
North Bay, Peterborough,
Quebec, Kitchener and
Toronto.

Canadiens. For the Sr.
Juniors and Seniors, the
champions were Brian Hoy,
Lori Gavreluk,` Lora Lee
Foulon and Murray King of
High Energy.
High averages for the
season were chalked up by
Bantams, Marc Nesbitt, 120,
and Janette Taylor, 104;
Juniors, Graham Taylor,
133, and Joanne Shaw, 151;
Sr. Juniors, Billy Gaunt, 173,
and Sheri Walden, 172, and
Seniors, Greg Storey, 205.
Season high doubles were
bowled by Bantams, Jeffrey
Mann, 332, and Angela Wall,
313, and 'Juniors, Michael
Thompson, 413, and Audrey
Baxter, 375. Donald
Casemore put -together a 605
and Kim Rae totalled 583 for
the Sr. Junior high triple,
while Barry Haugh bowled a
727 for the Senior triple.
High singles went to
Bantams, Jeremy Cameron,
166, and Jennifer Willis, 163;
Juniors, Bruce McInnes, 232,
and Sandra Moffatt, 208; Sr.
Juniors, Jeffrey Camero ,
264, and Lori Gavreluk, 262,
and Seniors, Brian Hoy, 289.

championship in the Bantam
division. The Junior

bowled season high doubles in the YBC this year. High
