Bowlers
qualify for
tournament
The house qualifying rounds
for the All -Ontario Family
Twosome bowling tournament
were held Sunday at the
Wingham Lanes. Winners in
the various categories were:
Mother -son, Barry Haugh
and Verna, 1003; mother -
daughter, Audrey Baxter and
Ruth, 1093; father -son, Russel
Springer and Jim, 1032;
father -daughter, Christine
Cerson and Larry, 1021.
- These winners will receive
the house championship
plaques and also advance to
the zone rounds June 1. The
winners from the zone round'
will compete in the all -Ontario
finals in Toronto August 31,
with all expenses paid for the
weekend.
All YBC bowlers who
competed in the house round
will receive a crest. The YBC
banquet will be held next
Monday at the Wingham
Legion Hall, starting at 5:30
p.m.

softball assoc.
holds meetjng
The annual meeting of the
Tri -county Softball Associa-
tion was held April 17 at the
East Wawartosh Public
School.
Several rule changes were
discussed; there will be
further discussion at the
scheduling meeting to be held
in the Brussels, Morris and
Grey Community Centre May
8.
The fee for each team was
raised to $4,00, with a free rule
book to be given to each team.
The fee ,is payable at the
meeting May.8.

During the election of of-
ficers Keith Moffat of Blue -
vale stepped up to president,
with the office of vice
president left open. Mrs. Bill
Coolies of Belgrave remained
as secretary -treasurer and
Laverne Godkin of Walton
remained as league convener.
MIDGETS AND REC.—The Wingham Minor Hockey As-
sociation presented trophies to outstanding hockey play-
ers Thursday night during Its awards night. Here are
players from the Midget and Recreation team. In front
are Murray Willis, mostjmproved player; Rance Willis,
most valuable player, and Rob Willis, top scorer, from
the recreation team. Midget players In the back row are
Vaughn Passmore, most improved player; Peter Good-
all, most Valuable player, and 'Bill Brophy, top scorer.

Elfrieda Klaasen was the
high single lady with a 246
score and also had hte ladies'
high triple of 574. High single
man was Dave Dinsmore with
a 234 and he also had the high
triple of 656.

228, 224; Nancy Conley, 211;

Edna Mae Armstrong
captured the high single with a
286 while Jean King totalled
713 for the triple.
Shirley ts Spiders have 3,157
points for first place and
Jean's Junebugs sit in second
with 3,112. Lila's Lizards are
next with 3,035 followed by
Edna's Earwigs, 2,996;
Susan's Snails, 2,982, and
Glady's Grasshoppers, 2,945.
Those bowling 200 -point
games or better were Lila
Hickey, 234; Shirley Sallows,
263; Shirley Wharton, 233;
Jeannette Scott, 207; Pat
Brown, 215; Shirley Storey,
220, 249 and 207; Debbie Auge,

The final team standings for
the playoffs were: first,
Marlene's Malamutes, 12,862;
Gayle's Greyhounds, 12,835;,
Isobel's Irish Setters, 12,554;
Sheila's Schnauzers, 12;346;
Esther's Elkhounds, 11,920,
and in last place, Brenda's
Bloodhounds, 11,409.
On April 15, the last night of
the playoffs, Verna Haugh
captured the ladies' high
single and triple with 203 and
607 respectively. Jim Griffith
bowled a 271 for the men's
single while Rod Hickey total-
led 668 for the triple.
The .annual dinner banquet
Was held at the Legion, Satur-
day, April 19, with a dance
following. Verna Haugh and
Ruth Ann Steffen were tied
with 309 points each for the
ladies high single trophy, and
Frank Burke had bowled a 363
for the men's. The ladies' high
triple was captured by Verna
Haugh, 746, and for the men it
v(ras Jim Griffith, 908. Verna
Haugh also took the ladies'
high average award with 190
points and Jim Griffith cap-
tured the men's with 221.
The most improved bowler
was Susan Pegg and Cathy
Carson for the ladies.- Both
bowlers were up 21 points.
Warren Thynne was named
the most improved man
bowler. His score increased by
10 points.:
Perfect Attendance Awards
went to Cathy Carson, Lyla-
Ann Harkness, Verna Haugh,
Kevin Hickey, Linda Hickey,

The Senior Ladies Bowling
Club held its annual banquet
on Tuesday, April 15, at the
Presbyterian Church, Et'here
members enjoyed a delicious
dinner served by the ladies of
the church.• -
