Dr. Stephenson also said students, whose parents have gross assets in excess of $250,000 will not be precluded. from applying for assistance, as they have been in the past. She said only parents' net assets will be considered when the expected parental contri- bution portion is worked out. . . Orly marketing for CFFO ng at Lucknovi, Surface application Shallow incorporation Lasso® herbicide by Monsanto is usually surface applied before the crop emerges. Some farmers, however, prefer to incorporate their herbicides, and Lasso fits the bill. "Shallow" is the key word. Lasso should be shallowly incorpo- rated, prior to planting corn or soybeans. First, broadcast Lasso; then thoroughly incorporate it into the top two inches of soil. To make sure the incorporation is shallow, set your disc or harrow to work the soil to a maximum depth of four inches. Shallow incorporation of Lasso plus atrazine suppresses, yellow nutsedge in corn. To suppress yellow nutsedge for six to eight weeks, shallowly incorporate Lasso plus atrazine (mixed at new labelled rates) before planting. Suppressing yellow nutsedge with Lasso plus atrazine gives your con the chance to become established without nutsedge competition that can hurt your yield. Whether you surface apply or shallowly incorporate, you get outstanding grass control with Lasso. Lasso consistently controls annual grasses in corn and soybean's. With excellent crop safety. And no carryover. And you can surface apply Lasso ids shallowly incorporate it. Because it's your 'choice, with Lasso. CFFO dairy committee met with officials of the Ontario Milk Marketing MRS. WILLIAM SOTHERN Board to share its concerns about the proposed quota exchange hi the dairy in- dustry. Theexchange went into effect in March, 1980. • In its official statement to the OMMB the federation con- cludes:°r' "The CFFO is con- cerned that the will to control quota values does not exist in the dairy enterprise. If this be the case, we are afraid there will be intervention into our enterprise by government planning. Our choice. is. for producer planning, but this requires responsible actions by producers today." Another area of. concern to the .CFFO is lack of planning for agriculture , the con- sequent disappearance of prime food land in Ontario. The same brief to the minister states: "We believe that every scrap of food land must be kept available for food production, not just preser- ved. We are willing to give up our so-called. right to a retire=' ment lot. We do not need. special status in Ontario." Recently the CFFO formed its 17th local association of Wellington South. More than a dozen students at the University of Guelph formed the new association. Nates from Fordwich Easter Sunday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Bruce. Sothern were Mr. . and . He insists this will then allow Ontario farmers -to compete fairly with other provinces in Canada and other countries, of the world in agri- culture production. To accomplish this, he said the government must take action to reduce rural hydro rates, reduce farmers' and small business' interest rates, increase money for tile drain- age, increase the capital support program to $20,000, stop non-resident foreign ownership of farmland, and many other areas in which the farmer could be helped 'to al- low him to survive in Ontario.
