This week I interviewed one
member of this hardworking
six -member team,; Mrs. Sean
Leitch. Other team members
are Mary Anne Nicholson,
Mrs. Valdene Gadke, all in the
main office as well as Beth
Mundell in the library and
Mundell in the library and
Mrs. Nancy Aitchison in the
guidance office.
Together this team keeps it-
self well occupied ordering
supplies, answering numerous
phone calls, typing examina-
tion papers for every course
written in the school, filling
out report cards, typing
course schedules, keeping tab
• of the attendance of 1,100 stu-
dents, to mention only a few
tasks.
Mrs. Leitch suggested that
the busiest times usually fall
at the beginning and end of the
school year and at examina-
tion times.
Of course, as it is with every
• job, Mrs. Leitch admitted that
there are frustrating occa-
skins involved with the job,
stormy days being one of them
when they must constantly
keep track of the late buses
and students. As well, she
added, another frustrating
part of the job is "that", point-
ing to a stack of boxes in one
corner of the office, the con-
tents of which had to be re-
turned.
Mrs. Leitch recounted some
of the more memorable occa-
sions in her life as secretary;
including the year of 1967-69
when the office was relocated
to the health room during re-
novations to the bidding, and
of course the teachers' strike
two years ago.
On a final note, Mrs. Leitch
added that, "By and large, I
wouldn't trade it (the jOb) for
anything," and we the Stu-
dents and staff at the school
are grateful for that!
